I love how Benning is getting bashed over this. He didn’t even make a trade lol. Some of you are stupider than Dorian

Spin spin spin. Cry wagon has been loading up as usual before the big day. Everyone's biggest fears becoming fact a week ahead of anything happening. Its a 13 year observation for me. A comical case study.

Well it gives the kids time to develop properly in a developmental league, for one thing. JUolevi should go to Utica. So should Dahlen and Pettersson IMO. Gaudette i like on the Canucks, if he has a good camp go for it. We shouldn't be in a hurry to crush these kids confidence a la JV, Hutton or McCann
- neem55

Why not give them a spot if they look ready to develop in the NHL? You are essentially suggesting the same thing on the flip side. Pettersson already has 2 seasons of dominating pro hockey... if he's ready, play him. Dahlen and OJ both have played pro. If they are ready, play them. These prospects are undetermined in the middle of the summer and may be ready. It would be counter productive to pencil them on the Comets who are already going to be developing a bunch of our prospects and would not benefit from having their ice time cut for guys who may be NHL ready and out of place. You are comparing these players to Junior players that were younger with the exception of EP(who is exceptional to begin with).

Juolevi has played on the small ice, but I just think keeping the pressure on as they adjust is a smart move. Even the leaves develop their players in the AHL. It's hard to be patient when the team is so bad, but we don't need to ruin more players.

Says who... If they’re Nuckers BPA it is what it is. Are you trolling or do people really not understand that BPA is based on diff criteria for every wannabe armchair scout/GM?

God I hope it's not Bouchard or Boqvist. Good prospects, but definitely not #7 worthy imo.

Ideally they draft Hughes or Dobson and Berggren falls to 37

- Nucker101

Agree with all this but hypothetically speaking, which of the two would you take if forced to choose?

Disagree for sure. Voleno's not a good scorer, but he is one of the better passer's in this draft and had the most primary assists of anyone in the Q to prove it (that and plenty of tape showing his floaters and no-look passes). I love that combination of a shut down guy that possesses the puck well. Needs to work on simplifying some of his game but his vision and IQ are very high IMO. I'm biased, but I've also watched a lot of tape on both. Voleno's a better 200 ft player, distributes well. Kotk is unreal in the ozone, unreal shot and hands.
- neem55

I like Veleno. Not in the top 10 but I bring him up in a trade down scenario if Hughes, Dobson and Wahlstrom are not available.

Canucks have drafted a couple of excellent shooters in Boeser and Petterssen. Both guys can distribute the puck well but Veleno is excellent with the puck, has the speed and size we need and is underrated right now I think. Yes he's lacking that high end shot but has gets in the dirty areas if he's not leading the rush and makes super intelligent passes. I'd be happy with him and another 2nd rounder(or +) if the players above are gone.

I like this deal but only if Hughes, Dobson and Bouchard are gone.

But that would mean Kotneinami or Zadina would be on the board and I would have to go with one of them over this Veleno situation I think.

I also really like Smith and Hayton in that 10-13 range.

This makes no sense to me. How is playing a player that shows he's ready impatient? How does that ruin their career?(Horvat and Boeser????)How is assuming they won't be ready before camp even opens a good strategy and how is that fair to a player who has worked to show up ready?

What do you suggest? We sign and trade for short contracts to fill the gap for prospects that are ready?

Play the ones that are ready. If you don't, you are doing the same thing... hurting their development. We have positions to fill. Why wouldnt you put a NHL ready prospect in those slots?

Summers in Kelowna/Penticton. Seattle is a common connector for Kelowna when coming from the east coast.

I just thought of something. What if Melnyk is purposely making Ottawa suck so it will be easier to move them?

He better be careful, if they suck to to much he may not be able to find a taker.

As soon as Rick figures out his arse from his elbow, I'll be worried.

Until then, I'm safe in the knowledge that he's never successfully 'broke' any kind of deal in his career.

He's been barking up this tree for 18 months now.
