Kane, Toews, price, et al, make over 10per.
Taveras will make more then him.
McDavid should have gone max or bust.

- Pres.cup

How is the highest contract in NHL history not max?

He only made it to grade ten then dropped out, I think he drives a monster truck and burns stick now, give him a break.

If you are bringing in Vets to protect the kids, to teach them how to be a pro, yadda yadda - them playing in Utica doesn’t really help.

If Erickson is your vet leadership, but he can only play protected minutes, with another vet and a tough guy. No thanks, and no thanks to more of that.

- 1970vintage

I love how playing in utica doesn't help is your throw away comment, that you think this makes sense without making any points. There's quite a bit of evidence supporting developing players in developmental leagues, keeps them out of trouble, out of the limelight and focused on hockey/becoming a pro.

That looks like a nothing/nothing trade so far lol

Burrows for Dahlen though

If anything, Wilson paid less for the player everyone valued higher lol.

Wilson >> Dorion

Hansen cost the sharks more money then Goldy.

It’s a trade I liked at the time, Goldobin definitely has high end skill so it was worth a gamble. The hope was that AHL time and a fresh start would allow him to improve his game defensively and raise his compete level but it seems like that’s still an issue.

In hindsight I’d prefer a draft pick instead of Goldobin, but again I can’t complain since I liked the trade when it was made. And who knows if a 2nd + 4th was even on the table from anyone.

- Nucker101

He hasn’t exactly been given the linemates to reach his potential just yet. Needs a fast thinking playmaking north south centre.

I am curious if a player could negotiate financial compensation relative to the cap, or whether it has to be a number. Like instead of getting $12.5 million, McDavid gets paid the max 20% of the salary cap, which would then rise with the cap, but provide the GM with continuity on available funding
- WhiteLie

No, unfortunately you can't do that. I looked into it a few years ago .

Says who... If they’re Nuckers BPA it is what it is. Are you trolling or do people really not understand that BPA is based on diff criteria for every wannabe armchair scout/GM?
- DrChristianTroy

Ok. But just because Dorian needs a center, doesn't make him the BPA, it makes him the BCA.

I think it's self explanatory as it's about Benning not Wilson.
- LeftCoaster

I think the question he's asking is...

Does Wilson have more net picks then Benning over the same time period?

Without researching it, I'm going to say no, no he does not.

Benning for the win.

That list isn't based on team's need or a mock draft lol, and I don't really care about positions either, unless it's a tiebreaker between players I have ranked dead even. It's just simply my top 15 prospects.

I just like Kotkoaniemi as a prospect and believe he has a good shot at being a solid NHL C with his skill, size and hockey sense. The draft gets weaker after Zadina in my eyes, I'm not exactly projected the guys from 4-15 to be franchise players.

That's true. The Canucks do desperately need a playmaking C with speed. God bless Bo, but he's a powerforward.

It is random BS. In the last 4 years Wilson has traded more quality picks than Banning has. Yet our media ignores that and only looks at what Wilson did today and compares it to Bennings 4 years.

I don't think you or the welder are grasping the tweet. Yes it's a generic statement about acquiring picks, but it's not a Wilson vs Benning tweet.

It's simply stating Benning hasn't added picks to the organization when he probably should be.

Which is 100% Voleno and 25% kotkaniemi. I also really liked Luundestrom at the WJC, but I'm biased as I very much dislike Kotkaniemi's lack of speed, balance and agility.

The fact that it's even a comparison at all is the sadder part.

One team has been to a SCF during that span and made the playoffs 3 out of 4 years.

The other team has made the playoffs once, and has been a bottom feeder during the last 3 years. Benning's net draft pick haul shouldn't be compared to Wilson's, and if it's even close than that's pretty sad for Benning.

Canucks draft pick haul over the last 4 years should be compared to teams like Florida, Colorado, Dallas, New Jersey, Edmonton, etc.

This should put to rest any chance of us drafting Boqvist:

“He’s a good player in his own right,” said Benning. “Other guys just have a more well-rounded game.”

If you're competing for cups, you're trading picks. Pretty straightforward. SJ is in the hunt again next year IMO.

Veleno's offensive instincts aren't there for me, but we've already gone back and fourth on this so no point in doing it again. Agree to disagree on both him and Kotkaniemi lol.

I don't mind Lundestrom in the 2nd round if he's there.

While true, I don't think Benning has had quite the lemons to make lemonade with. He has squandered some assets, as all GM's do, but I can't think of many good assets he had the opportunity to start a bidding war with freely

Ya that sounds like Dobson or Hughes. I only leave out Bouchard because JB has also talked about focusing on speed.
