Yeah sure he won a cup and it's easy to say that's all that matters but he has made some real questionable moves that didn't always yield some great results over the years. Not saying he's a bad coach by any means but I understand some people questioning just how great he is. Let me state that I'm in no way agreeing with Tanner

So sad. Because he took a few years to win the Cup with Caps he is not a good coach? People forget the fine job Trotz did with the Preds even when they would not spend money.

It's nuts. The Preds made Wang look like a big spender back in the day. Trotz is a winner simple as that. Anyone who would not want him coaching their team knows nothing about hockey.

Who do I think? Not a clue. Trotz makes a lot of sense in terms of lou’s “Winning now” statement. DJ Smith makes sense in terms of lou’s familiarity and JT connection. Remember.... first thing lou did was visit JT. Of vast importance to isles owners. Bc of this... just can’t say. I think it’s 50/50 and fact is...when it comes to lou... can he dead wrong and he can go in completely different direction.

As for hearing... nada. Nobody is hearing a thing from isles themselves. Lots of friends of friends and hearsay that Trotz is coming from others outside of other avenues. Others are saying Smith (not just Eklund)

Keefe and Smith comes from Toronto’s high analytics system and the Isles analytics systems is being used by Lou. So there is some interesting aspects and items there... bc one thing Lou seeks to have learned from Toronto is its heavy use.

Trotz vs DJ Smith (plus some folks like Stevens working the D) seems the 50/50 coin flip to me.

Which would mean it would hilarious if both sides were wrong and it was someone else entirely. For example...nobody really talking about Bob Hartley (coaching a KHL team now) or Marc Crawford (assistant in Ott) who are also two vet coaches.

One thing seems clear that it is most likely a coach will be announced before the draft.

Because I’ve heard nothing from isles end or even guesses... I’m going to abstain from voting and just call it: 40/40 (Trotz vs Smith) with a 20% of a lou surprise.

I couldn’t care less on guessing who and being right or wrong. In the end, isles need a coach that solves a myriad of issues: appeal to JT and best guy to lead this isles team forward. I personally prefer a vet. I liked Tippett, but he’s now working for Seattle

The numbers dont lie. His record with the Caps alone is about as impressive as it gets. THAT SAID, I really know NOTHING about him(as in havent even watched a presser of his) but I am confident for the first time in almost forever, that we will get a competent coach that will be the right fit for the team.
