It could be a standard PR statement. I wouldn't read too much into it either way.

We shouldn't be surprised about Trotz's resignation...indications all season that this would happen, one way or the other. Was told in January "Barry thinks he can get a job in 3 minutes" if he leaves.

Really seems Barry felt disrespected by the Caps and this is more than money.

Other notes:

Unlike where with Garth Snow there was a "shared process" that allowed some items to trickle out a bit... With Lou, there won't be. This is why Staple has complained about a "Cone of Silence". Lou doesn't share that process at all right now.

Isles internally DO not know if Matt Bertani and Claude Loiselle are fired or not. So it remains something between them and Lou, it seems. So far no official statement or article with anyone on record.

this is why I am concerned on a team who might have been on fence and willing to replace whoever they have with Trotz.

My concern was also... before this news dropped, a source cited the Isles would likely have a coach announced before the draft. So my question is how far along were/are they?

ON another hand... perhaps this was expected. Caps GM re-signed in March. Reirden in their system and considered ready. So...could be this was banked on.

Hmm, I remember Keefe was coming here with his analytics

Maybe Trotz lets Weight back on the bench?

We can only hope. Weight was really good as our PP coach and as head coach he was awesome.

100% Weight will be PP coach. I mean Weight could teach Trotz a thing or two about The PP. The Caps PP was dreadful.

Yeah, and he's gonna have Garth Snow as the starting goalie.

The Rangers will hire Doug. Talk about huge mistake putting Weight anywhere near a young coach like Quinn.

As per @NYRangers Fans, keep an eye on Doug Weight. Relationship with Pres Glen Sather from @EdmontonOilers Days. With Coach Quinn coming in, Weight could potentially be a compliment to the Coaching Staff. @NHL @NHLNetwork

Great. Good luck. Bye. If he communicates with the players the same way as with the media then he has no room coaching anything.

I’m surprised the Rangers did not grab Cappy. They normally love to scope up the Ex-Isles.

Sather would really be out of touch if he brought in Weight.

Much like how Lou was gonna stay a special adviser with the Leafs?

Trotz to the Isles and Weight to the Rangers would be such a win win.

It’s killing the hockey world the Isles are no longer a mess. I’ve seen comments asking why Trotz would go to the Isles as if Garth and Doug were still in charge.

I haven't seen a coach in over his head that much since Gordon, and we've seen a lot of bad Isles coaches.

It takes time for perceptions to change. As happy as we are right now, the pitchforks will come in in a heartbeat if the team doesn't come out winning in October.

Weight was a (frank)ing disaster. I would be ecstatic to see him stay within the division.
