I do not agree with everything Botta has posted. Like today he thought Trotz was overrated before the Caps won the Cup. Botta has been spot in ripping both Garth and Charles though.

I like Barry Trotz and if they hire him it would be huge. But hiring him is just a piece to the puzzle. They’re missing a few pieces. I get what Botta was trying to say.

Nobody is saying Trotz is the final piece. Isles needing more pieces has nothing to do with Trotz coaching ability. I do not think Trotz is overrated Cup or not. Just getting Ovi to play defense was a huge accomplishment.

Barzal is getting paid. He's gonna win the Calder tomorrow and had CCM and Adidas announce endorsement deals today.

Someone actually pointed out that he spends a lot of time in the offseason in BC and Seattle is a big hub for flight transfers to BC.

Also, the picture of him has him wearing a polo/shorts/sandals in Seattle. He was rocking a shirt/tie in Newark.

I don't disagree, but Trotz signing with the Islanders would mean a lot more than just landing a good coach. That's a message to the rest of the league that the Islanders aren't a cut-rate, budget, garbage organization anymore. The statement is as important as getting a new coach.

I think he was referring to Trotz’s salary vs his history. Up until this year he wasn’t a 5 million a year coach

Yeah there's no way the Isles go after him, he's too expensive (in terms of what it would cost to acquire him, fit him under the cap this season, and then re-sign him)....but it'll certainly be nice if he departs the Metro. He's awesome.
