Just do not think Trotz wants to be seen going back to the Caps after stepping down. I think Trotz would rather take the year off if an Isles deal does not happen than going back to the Caps.

While I agree with your sentiment, nobody is trading for Weber. Something tells me Dorion also isn't going to ever do business with Wilson ever again after he just made him look like a dingus publicly. I have a pretty good feeling that Toews isn't waiving his NMC either.

But I agree that it's entirely possible that this is for Kovalchuk, not Tavares.

To be very clear, I don't believe any "fans with sources" but there's some guy on reddit claiming his roommate works for the Isles and told him about them playing at the Coliseum again 2 months prior to it being announced. He is saying Trotz is at the Garden City hotel meeting with the Isles and they expect a deal to be announced by Friday.

Again, just to be clear...this is probably horsepoop, but whatever...I'll mention it anyway.

Of course it's not for him, everyone knows the Leafs made a promotional video up to try to show him the finer points of playing for them in his hometown, even some of their players are rumored to have a cameo pitch in it, I wonder what Stamkos says in it. Wilson knows better than to try since the Leafs have this all wrapped up

The only team that can give JT the 8th year after he stayed on our roster after trade deadline is the Isles. No other team can give him an 8 year deal. So the question really is how much will it cost him in that 8th year when he is 35 years old. I am cautiously optimistic the Isles get JT signed this week.

So Trotz flew to Newark last night to NOT talk to the only other team with an opening at H/C today? With the draft later this week? That makes zero sense. I am sure they are talking today.
