I wasn't really thinking of that but it makes a lot of sense. Ultimate go out on top (frank) you moment.

As per @NYRangers Fans, keep an eye on Doug Weight. Relationship with Pres Glen Sather from @EdmontonOilers Days. With Coach Quinn coming in, Weight could potentially be a compliment to the Coaching Staff. @NHL @NHLNetwork

I feel better about Weight being brought in as an assistant to coach the offense than I do about Ruff still being here coaching the defense

Whoa. The more interesting part is the relationship Weight has with Tavares. Wonder if that’s a factor...

You know my view on this. Have stated it repeatedly. But here’s we go. Three defensive coaches in three years. It was the system not the assistant coaches. Plus he might just be the eye in the sky

It's in the works. His title will be Assistant Manager of Making Trades with the Edmonton Oilers. That will be his only responsibility.

Weight has the maturity level of a petulant toddler and is probably looking to get out of the Islanders organization now that someone is in charge that has the audacity to hold people accountable for their job performance. He probably thinks he's sticking it to the Islanders or something, but I'd buy him his overpriced LIRR ticket into Penn if I could. He'a a large adult child.

Exactly chief! Isles fans will help him pack. Think it would be a big mistake for the Rangers to bring him in under Quinn and I doubt it would make JT want to sign with the Rangers.

....but seems a bit disinterested in his own end and when his team gets behind or out-matched.

Didn't the Sharks just off load a guy like that to the Cannucks the year before last??? It smells a bit like Goldobin. Fast with great offensive instincts but couldn't flip a piss for defense???

Ummm, no thanks.

There were multiple times he couldn't handle the media in post-game press conferences, when they asked him questions about the comical level of goals they were allowing. He was rude and argumentative often. There was a specific incidence where he was especially unprofessional and rude in dealing with Shannon Hogan in a press conference, although I can't remember the exact context of what happened. He also blamed the fans for a home loss when he, unprovoked, mentioned that "there wasn't enough energy in the arena" or something along those lines.

He was a great player but he has absolutely no business being a coach, he's a giant baby.

edit: oh there was this, too

This doesn't sound like anything a responsible head coach blaming his team for not doing stuff like "following a game plan" and "having heart" which......are kind of culture-things that he's responsible for managing. If stuff like that is failing then it's as much his responsibility as the players.

Ur real bad at reading, u see the other part where I said terrible might have been a bad word to describe him?

Terrible in his own end was a bad way to describe him, I take that back but this is what I’ve read in more than 1 place about his defensive play:

For all the good that’s here, the only major question mark that still remains about Bouchard is whether or not he plays a little too calm out on the ice, specifically in the defensive zone. There were a number of instances this season where Bouchard looked flat-out lackadaisical in his own end, floating around nonchalantly and failing to break the cycle or prevent scoring chances against. He doesn’t need to be a Tasmanian Devil in the defensive zone to be effective, but he does need to do a better job of getting into lanes and tying up and boxing out opposing forwards, which should be easy enough for him to do because of his big frame. It needs to be mentioned here, however, that Bouchard logged a ridiculous amount of ice time for London this season, so perhaps some of this subdued play was the result of simple exhaustion. Surrounding Bouchard with a better defense group and reducing his minutes a little might help alleviate this problem, but that’s still something that’s not fully determined.

- nyrangers9479

By that, Bouchard sounds like the second coming of Willie Huber to me, devotion wise.

AV next Caps coach...?
- 21peter

How about their own assistant coach who has been waiting his turn in serving them very well in Todd Reirden? I had him on my interest list for the Rangers job once A.V. was relieved of his duties.
Had the Caps postseason ended at least 2 rounds earlier, Reirden would have already likely been named their head coach. But the Caps winning the Cup could change that matter. If so, A.V. may not be at the top of their list, given his known track record of being able to take teams up to a certain lesser point only. He may have to battle again that coach behind the Cup winning bench in 2014 in Darryl Sutter to get that chance, should the Caps not promote Reirden to becoming head coach.

Well at least that's better than Quinn wanting Capuano.
