Okay. But let me ask one more question. Considering the Oilers current crop of right hand D after Larsson, would Faulk be better or worse than those home grown alternatives, specifically as part of the second pairing?
- Wildschwein

It would depend entirely upon his usage. Could he provide a positive impact on the team given the exact right circumstances? Yes. Do I believe Todd McLellan is the guy who can craft the exact right circumstances? No. Knowing this, do I believe he'd be worth the price of acquisition? No. Do I believe that that positive impact would be worth giving up valuable development minutes (namely PP minutes) for our younger Dmen? No.

The team he's played on is such an oddity that it's hard to parse through his numbers and make sense of them. In evaluating players statistically, I choose to value long term results in GF% (both relative, situational and raw), HD rates (chances and goals relative to teammates) and a few other stats.

Did you miss the Chris Pronger days?

A #1 d-man can change your team significantly. Back then Brewer, Lynch and Woywitka was quite the haul too.

- Lahey

No it wasn’t a haul. It was an outright steal.

Anyone anywhere saying there is discussions with Ottawa that have any mention of Lucic are full of poop. No way in a million years he is waiving his No Move for Ottawa. Zilch. Zero. Nada.

It’s all made up.

Also any trade of Lucic I beleive would happen after July 1 when the oil pay his bonus.

He certainly seems to draw more than his fair share of debate.

I’m still torn myself on the Faulk question. I agree with you concerning the abilities of the coaching staff, and the numbers you provide do support your stance. Yet I can’t help but feel drawn to the specific qualities Faulk does possess. I’d be hard pressed to pass on him if the price were right.

Likely so. Then again, so are a myriad of other topics, such as Bigfoot, demonic possession and the quality of Trudeau’s hair. Yet all are still being discussed and so will the Ottawa/Lucic speculation.

That trade was highway robbery. By my estimation, it's pretty much the equivalent of Doughty for Nurse, Jones and Lagesson.

I might go into further detail in a blog at some point, but the draft is my priority.

So I guess Chia is just a big liar since he said the oilers wouldn’t be players in any big names?? Seems the oil come up in all the big names right now which I find rather suspect.

You know how it goes, throw enough poop at the wall and something will eventually stick. I have no doubts that Chiarelli is making inquiries however. He has never been one to sit idle.

Brewer was the only piece of value in that deal. Lynch was a band aid and Woywitka was close to being a bust.

It's mostly speculation and do you think Chia is going to announce he's going big game hunting.

No but why announce the exact opposite? Just say we will look at all options if that is what you are doing??

If Ottawa prices them out of the Karlsson conversation, I could see Letang going to Edmonton. Something like Puljujarvi & #10 OA for Letang & the Pens 2nd rounder work for me.

He is just barely surviving in Edmonton and is on an ultra short leash. He is going to swing for the fences.

I see Karlsson as the only big name out of that crew... Why is Carolina purging those 2 names is rather perplexing... Is Risto truly available?

I doubt it happens before July though as any team will want to discuss extension possibilities first.

Letang with his health issues and being well past his prime isn’t going to get you Pul and 10OA. Dream on.
