Side note: co worker here actually got a pic (well his son did) with John Tavares over the weekend who was up in Toronto at some market. (it showed up in my facebook feed) Was funny he told him to say "go leafs go" instead of cheese for the picture. JT laughed and said hey Im an Islander. He didnt want to bug him to much as he was left mainly undetected/noticed. I called him up today when I got into work to ask him about it, and he said that he was a pretty cool guy, but could tell he was there just chilling and was hoping to stay under the radar and was there with his girlfriend.

I had said a while back that JT could possible come to TO, based on "the I know a guy story".... but apparently something happened between Shanny and Lou and this is why Lou left. No way Lou is letteing JT go, especially to Toronto. He is staying put on the Island.

There was an Ego problem there: Shanny, Lou, Hunter and Babs.

Cant blame Hunter exactly....whiz kid who is only 32 getting the reigns was tough to swallow for him. Same for Lou, if stuff went down and his contract was up no point in sticking arround here.

So the only thing to see happen, is that if the leafs will target Doughty which was the last thing this guy told me. July first is just round the corner now.

2. yes, seems it was basically Lou + Hunter vs Shanahan + Babcock. Last two 'used' Dubas. I'm happy Hunter isn't the GM. But Dubas isn't much better to be honest.
3. what happened between Lou and Shanahan is that Brendie didn't give Lou a new contract
4. I thought players couldn't move under the radar in Toronto...

My favourite part about the Jays right now is the attendance is dipping by a significant margin already. Which makes me happy the message to the team is "put good poop on the field and we'll give you barrels of money"

You absolutely do not want to bring them up and burn controllable years. I dont get why people want this. It just means they will either leave or get a huge payday early. They are contending for anything, you dont waste those years on this season IMO

I agree. I think you let them just develop in the minors. I wanted Vlad in triple A prior to his injury. Now just let him heal in double A and work on his glove. (I heard it wasn't the greatest yet)

What the hell has Dubas done to be considered "not much better"? He hasn't done anything at the NHL level to really evaluate him.

Defensively, he'll get better.. Dude is only 19, patience is required.. I think at the start of next season, he might be up in the bigs, but only if Donaldson is no longer here.

Yes, that was the point I was trying to make LOL. He WILL try and make it difficult, but ultimately will be JT's decision....But dont think the leafs are willing to pay what JT would want to come over.

He was probably walking to the elevator to go sign Tavares when he lost track of his thoughts, and went back to his desk and started trying to sign Carlson.
