There is this weird, false narrative that Lindy Ruff is some sort of defense guru, probably because he was a defensemen. However, in both Buffalo and Dallas, the worst part of his teams were always team defense.

"Makes me laugh just thinking" that you agree with your roommate who wanted to include Skjei as one piece to acquire Trouba, & eventually likely shell out more than Shatty money annually for him, or even better yet, to just make an offer sheet for him for greater than Shatty money. His other separate words for trading Skjei were that the Rangers "were loaded on left side defense with prospects". So, yeah, "imagine a left side of Staal, Smith, and O'Gara" for now? Now you know why I only pay attention to very few mock drafts. They are a waste of time because the ones that rank the draftees like you said, are "nuts", except for the most reputable known draft experts, whose rankings can still also vary somewhat from one to another.
