Man getting that 5 pick would be nice. Yougo almost go anyway depending on what happens 2-4. If it went Dahlin, Svechnikov, Kotkaniemi, Hughes you can get your big skating RHD in Dobson, the supposed better Tkatchuk, Wahlstrom, Zadina.

AZ looking to win now would Simmonds be more interesting to them?

To AZ: Simmonds, 19 and Weal
To Philly: 5 and Crouse

I know it's slim.

just more talking and creating conversation. Interested in what happens this week. Fun having cap space, prospects and picks to actually play with

You think Simmonds gets something north of 6?
- J35Bacher

Yup, most likely. Maybe not here, but with cap likely to be well north of 80 million by 19-20, his agent has to be thinking that some GM is going to offer 5 years and 30+ million

Yeah. Again it would depend on what the cost is. I also know the Oilers want a right handed shooting defender. Can we pawn Gudas off on them? I know it won't get you 10 but a 2nd rounder?
- J35Bacher

If Gudas can us Edmonton’s 2nd, #40, make the deal.

Arizona isnt in win now mode. At one point last year OEL was nearly a -50. They haven't made any substantial moves that show me that they're going to sustain any type of success next year. Galchenyuck is a start but he's no savior. They would be foolish to trade for Simmonds now. And even more foolish to think he'd want to sign there long term.

And this is the reason I prefer to move him.

i know he's been a great player on a great deal but not sure I see it continuing and not sure I want the Flyers being the team to pay him that money.

The first domino in the Chuckie/Domi deal has fallen. Going to be a fun week I think. Lots of teams are said to be looking to do things.

Re-signing Ekman-Larson i think showed a commitment to win sooner then later. i have a feeling that was a pitch to him before he re-signed. You commit long term and we will push this forward. Just my feeling

So Ek has us in on Skinner, J. Johnson, Trouba, and Maroon along with of course Filppula.

I'm a little intrigued by Skinner.

I can only see Filppula re-signed if plans A thru Z fail.

Yeah I doubt Hexy wants him here at all. But he's the fall back plan.

For the Flyers he would be a 1 year deal. I think he is trying to get one last multi year deal. 3 years from someone.

yeah he has to win a round, this is the season we can really grade Hex, he has the pipeline, he has top players and he has the cap space. He needs to show he is proficient in using all the tools to get an A grade.
- wcorvette

I doubt this is the year where Hextall makes a lot of moves especially concerning the available cap space.

To me the biggest move is the Provorov deal. Because then you have cost certainty.

dont disagree, I don't see a big move but he does need to execute a good move to fill a hole. He has the cap and he has the assets to shape the roster.

You do know, he just goes with wherever the darts land on the board. right?

Yeah, he's a very good #2C who is dominant on faceoffs and can kill penalties. If he only had one year left at 7.5, I'd be very interested as the Flyers have ample room this year. But even at a reduced rate of say 6 million per, I'd still probably pass, 5 years is just too much remaining term for my liking.
- BiggE

he is 27/28 years old. prime years. even in 5 years only 32. His contract is not an albatross by any means. Not like he is this decline aging vet over 30.

Would be a very nice fit on the flyers

I wouldn't mind him but Simmonds then either has to go in the deal or be moved sometime. Can't see taking on the O'Reilly deal and re-signing Simmonds to a raise.

Bogo is a no go. He's not good even when does manage to get on the ice. Trading for him has been a disaster for Buffalo.

Understand.

But I have a feeling Gudas has run his course here. Gudas is best when playing with and edge and on the line or just over. If he isn't doing that then he isn't as useful. And I think they see Hagg as someone who brings that physical edge but smarter and cleaner.

Just my view.

Ryan O'Reilly is better than given credit for. He is nearly Coots level, but Coots has just flown under the radar for most of his career. Coots obviously doesn't have the pressure of playing up to the "value" of his contract.

Obviously the contract matters, and 7.5 will be tough later on in the deal, but I have him near Mark Stone in terms of overall difference makers that would be acquired. Up there close to Tavares, but obviously the other two come with a price to pay. I don't see Buffalo getting rid of him, so it is a moo point, but ROR is very good at hockey.
