I hope you are right and do think he’s done a fantastic job re-stocking the prospect pipeline. My only real complaint, and it’s far from a big one, is that I believe he has a tendency to put a bit too much emphasis on a kid being a 200 foot player. A player can learn to be a better defensive player, can improve their off ice work habits and can improve their skating and skills to some degree. However, the ability to think the game, to make the right plays under pressure, and innate offensive creativity, are a lot harder to teach and/or improve.
I’d like to see a bit more emphasis on those qualities which is why I’d draft a guy like Farabee and even Berggren over Hayton for example. - BiggE
Why get a 100 foot player when you can get a 200 foot player? All kidding aside I value a coots player more then a guy that just pots goals. I do see the need for a guy who can spark your offense but not at the expense of defense. Defense first. But at this point I would like to see a guy that is a creative sniper get drafted.
Not able to post link but there is an article on Scheifele being a better player then Coots. Jets took him right before Flyers took Coots and fans have been critical of the pick over Coots and the article was saying why Scheifele is better.

If the Flyers retain the 19th pick (they shouldn’t ) and Noel is still on the board, it should be a fireable offense for Hexy not to pick him. - acd513
Why? Because he's 6-foot-5? Ratcliffe, a better prospect than Noel a year ago in his draft year (and way better after his d+1 year) went 35th.

Lol. I lean towards preferring the bigger forward prospects myself but Noel really doesn't wow me in any way. He's in a mix of about 10-12 solid prospects that are going to be available at 19.
This is such a tough draft to predict. Obviously the Sabres are taking Dahlin at #1 and I'm pretty confident the Canes will stay at #2 and take Svechnikov.
After that...who knows?
If the rumors are true and Kotkaniemi is really the guy the Habs want, I can't see them taking him at #3. Maybe a trade down to #6 with Detroit? Besides #6, the Wings hold picks 30, 33, and 36, so I can definitely the potential for a deal there. If so, I have to think the Wings would take Zadina at #3.
Most folks, and I as well, think Ottawa is going D at #4, but which one will it be? A lot of early mocks had them taking Boqvist, but now most seem to have them taking Hughes or Dobson, with Bouchard as a sleeper pick.
At #5, I would think the Yotes go D as well, but Tkachuk may be hard to resist.
All I can say for sure is that Friday night should be a very interesting first round.

Agree with this.
I think Dobson is first defender taken now. I can see it at 3/4/5. I know Montreal needs a center but they also need defenders, which are always tough to find.
I could see AZ moving the 5th pick to get an instant upgrade to the roster. I think they push to compete next year.

With you on Dobson, though I think Hughes could go before him. My personal rank of the top 10 Dmen in this draft is:
Dahlin
Hughes
Dobson
Bouchard
Boqvist
Smith
Miller
Sandin
Samuelsson
