You do know, he just goes with wherever the darts land on the board. right? - BiggE
Yes but Skinner would be a good third line option here. |

He would, but the cost of acquiring him just to run into another Simmonds situation isn't worth it. IMO Hextall has two types of trades to make, he could cheap out and get a Filppula type plug or he could go in for a younger guy with term (or RFA years).
As has been noted several times, the "window" is coming up in the next 2-5 years, so any fix before that isn't really worth losing assets for IMO

dont disagree, I don't see a big move but he does need to execute a good move to fill a hole. He has the cap and he has the assets to shape the roster. - wcorvette
Definitely a couple of holes to fill and I think we might see some mid to low level signings. I still think Hextall is in the evaluation phase and is going to wait and see what happens and what the holes are in the roster when the team finally elevates. Never know though, something might fall into his lap that he might like.

I don't think Skinner is going to sign a 3rd line players contract, even though he plays like one. |

Ryan O'Reilly is better than given credit for. He is nearly Coots level, but Coots has just flown under the radar for most of his career. Coots obviously doesn't have the pressure of playing up to the "value" of his contract.
Obviously the contract matters, and 7.5 will be tough later on in the deal, but I have him near Mark Stone in terms of overall difference makers that would be acquired. Up there close to Tavares, but obviously the other two come with a price to pay. I don't see Buffalo getting rid of him, so it is a moo point, but ROR is very good at hockey. - YuenglingJagr
I don't mind his cap hit, it's the assets the Sabres would demand that put me off.
ROR would be a great fit here since he play C and LW. |

Unless G is going back to center yes. Here's the thing... 3rd line on a good team isn't a bad place. |

He knows who I am now, which is a pretty humbling thing to someone who grew up idolizing him as my first sports hero. - bmeltzer
That is pretty awesome. It'd feel surreal, almost dreamlike, if Eric Lindros knew me on a first name basis. Good for you! |
