Hopefully the Sabres move on from the Habs if they won’t offer the 3rd
Or a “young” winger

They have nothing of value to help us

I missed the "got caught masturbating in a Target parking lot in NJ in possession of synthetic marijuana." I mean, if that's not rock bottom, I don't know what is. Well, what he was arrested for this time, I guess.

I wonder if the GMs collaborate by recognizing today as a holiday...unless there is a significantvtrade to be made...so hands off for the normal B.S. tire kicking
Seems reasonable to me, could be a slow day.

Given the trade of Domi to the Habs, do the Habs try to trade down a couple of spots and target Kotkaniemi (C) to round out their center rebuild?
I know it is a bit early for Kots, but I could see the Habs going this route as a less expensive path to getting their 1C, and see if Domi can handle 2C duties.
Only issue with that plan is the Yotes who might be targeting Kots as well.

I listened to McKenzie's last podcast. He said multiple teams have Kotkaniemi in their top 5 and Zadina has slipped on a some teams. If they want him, they may need to do it at 3. Also sound like trading down is going to be hard, since the 3-10 guys are all very close.

I saw several sites stating that the Habs may be willing to trade down to pick a center. I would wonder if the Isles would trade #11 and #12 for #3 or if the Blackhawks would trade #8 and #27.

Either way the Habs would be able to get a top center and not be reaching for one at #3. In addition to getting an additional first.

For the Isles it could be an incentive to resigning Tavares with the addition of Zadina. For the cap strapped Hawks it would immediately put them back to being a threat in the West adding an elite winger on an ELC.

Most mocks I've seen have him going at 10 with Barrett Hayton and Joe Veleno going right after him somewhere between 11-14.

Said this in the last blog...

ROR for #3 overall or nothing.

Montreal doesn't have anything else that would benefit the Sabres at this point...and there are plenty of other teams with better assets who could really use ROR.

They are unsure things but they have four 2nd rd picks. I’m not a huge patchesfor O’Reilly guy but if they threw in their top 2 2nd rd picks we could get a couple nice players there.

Can flip patches for a young player at deadline. wouldn’t be the worst return in total.

Ya, that seems to be the consensus, especially those done 7-10 days ago, more recently
I saw a couple that have him higher, with one having the Habs grab him at 3, and another with the Yotes at 5.
Not a lot of C in the draft, but a few teams desiring one..so, he could be moving up.

With Veleno being from Montreal, he might be the player they are looking at. It would be something the Habs fans could get behind after being disappointed so often recently.

The Centre position is kind of reminiscent of the QB position in football in which teams may reach for one earlier than expected since its an important position on the ice and all these teams are desperate for one. Would not be surprised to see some of the d-men last into the teens becuase teams are reaching for Centres at the top of the draft. Kotkaniemi is a top 5 lock at this point (gives myself pat on the back for predicting this back in March). But guys like Hayton, Veleno, Kupari can all come off the board earlier then we think becuase of the desperation shown by GM’s to acquire one.

I'll own that more than Gerbe.

Domi is good.

If Domi is a third liner, Reinhart is too. They're totally different players. Domi has double the primary assists per 60, Reinhart has double the goals. If Domi played with Eichel, Eichel would score 40 imo

domi beat a goalie 5 times last season

5 goals

and 4 empty netters

what would the level of hate for reinhart be if he only put the puck past the goalie 5 times last season?

this is truly a case of apples and oranges

McKenzie has better info than most mock drafts and there are always late shifts that run of the mill mocks know nothing of.

Detroit receives Vegas' 2018 1st round pick, 2019 2nd round pick, and a 2020 3rd round pick for forward Tomas Tatar.

I could see it going that way, and I'd kill to trade with Van to get Tkachuk at 7.

What would really be something is if we could move ROR for Hanifin. Then move McCabe and pick 32 for Pacioretty.

Pacioretty-Eichel-Reinhart
Nylander-Mittelstadt-Okposo
Bailey-Erod-Baptiste
Girgensons-Larsson-Pominville

Hanifin-Risto
Scandella-Dahlin
Guhle/Pilut-Bogosian/Nelson
