Bookmark me. If ROR gets traded let me know what the final haul is...Top 5 selection, plus multiple prospects and 0% retained salary. Let's see who is closer.

Every year we go through this where X player is worth half a farm and it ends up being a donkey and a high five.

- Glak18

There's the key, isn't it. He doesn't have to be traded. Botterill certainly isn't going to give him away, and add retention on top. Eichel, Mitts and ROR down the middle is a strength. They won't sacrifice that for peanuts

Great work Pach but after selection #1, I lost interest.
- SabreWest

there's a pick at No. 32 which should be of some interest to sabres fans....or at least i'd hope so

Why talk about it then. Super silly to create a future lineup of all the assets you garner when the team is super strong already.

I just personally wouldn’t deal the 7th overall pick in general for a 7.5M Centreman whose production could fall off a cliff within the next two years and be like Chris Drury NYR edition.
- Pegullaville

Well obviously this is all predicated on a team really wanting O’Reilly

No one who feels he might “drop off a cliff” is gonna trade for him

fair enough...but without ror, erod will be #3...can pick up a #4 almost anywhere any time or use lars/gus/Malone in that role
- Michael Pachla

Ok,
but which one of those guys do u see logging the defensive responsibilities that O’Reilly currently does?
I don’t see Rodrigues as that guy
I think E Rod ends up on the wing

Pens have to find guys with no cap space, it's not the same at all.
- Lunaion

Didn’t say it was the same

Are there ways to find a 3C?
Sure

One way would be through trade

Right now,
seems like most are thinking that Asplund will be that guy
But if he doesn’t work out
I like Gaudette’s potential as a 2way Center

Didn’t think I’d have to break it down
Thought it was obvious

For everyone to look at

Mike Richards ( before his trade) Age 25
133G - 216A - 349pts

Ryan O'Reilly ( Age 26}
155 G - 267A - 422

So tell me what is he worth now ?

A trade from 2011 under a different CBA, doesnt really give a good base point for a trade today with a looming lookout and RORs buyout and lookout proof contract

the kid is all over the map

he bores someone, and assume he wins something on this site

he has a meltdown because we did not get a guy who beat a goalie 5 times this season (domi)

he worries over this and that

someone needs to get him some good drugs

That's what our GM wants is a Richards type deal

Less Kale and more Red Meat protein so it can balance himself out.

But for real, I do wonder if RORs contract in a trade would come up. Its great for him but the structure might scare off a team or 2 depending on how financially stable they are. Never would have thought this would be a conversation so early into his contract

I think his stale act for 2 teams now is an issue more then his contract

but I am sure there is fear his body will break down, and I subscribe to it

so 2 young unproven forwards at the time but a lot of potential and a 2nd round pick?

Simmonds was just off his ELC and was a 35 point player
Schenn only played 9 NHL games prior to be traded but was a Top 5 pick

I mean its not a lot compared to the comments of ROR would need the 3rd overall pick from Montreal talk that I have come across on the interweb
