I’ve been thinking: doesn’t Creating cap space open up Montreal trading 3 in a package for a center? ROR for Pacioretty and 3, something like that.

Anyway, great blog Carol. I do think it will be Hughes, Boqvist, Dobson or Bouchard. With an outside chance a forward such as tkachuk. I really doubt JB reaches for a center in this draft.

Cap space is becoming less and less important to teams seeing they are making billions now (league) . It will keep jumping up year to year until we have A Big Short

This doesn't make sense. There is a cap. MTL just made space to fit either a UFA or incoming contract under it. it's the same issue every year: a fixed number teams need to be under. It's going up doesn't make it less of an issue for teams with too many big contracts, as it only ever goes up marginally and player contracts go up higher than the cap change... so if anything it's more of an issue.

Montreal have 21 contracts and 14 mil in cap space today. When the cap ceiling goes up 2 -5 mil this year they will then have 16-19 mil and two players to sign.

They are clearing space because they want ROR a Dman and Tavares.

It will be between 78- 82 mil as per buttman. They certainly have space, but also have a number of contracts coming up next year. I'd imagine they will offer JT big money, after him Carlson. Make no mistake: they are clearing space for a reason.

After JT, I see them offering Thornton a big offer and like I said go hard on ROR. They want to compete now IMO.

They are swinging for the fences.

They have no worries about cap space next year . The only significant player would be Max and he will be gone.

When Juulsen and Mete need a raise (bridge deal ) Alzner and Petry will come off the books and they will be bringing on ELCs for the players being drafted now.

For sure! Even Thornton/Drouin or Thornton/ROR would be formidable. I think #3 is in play for sure though, need that lockdown C and ROR is very good at that job.

They have 4 2nd rounders, I wonder if Sutter for a 2nd+ is a possibility if they don't land ROR.

LA ANA MTL are three of the four teams linked to calling Benning about Sutter.

I doubt the #3 is in play .

I forgot he is a UFA. Of course Montreal will offer him too much money & term.

I think his teammate Bernard-Docker would be a nice pick in the 2nd.

Honestly have no clue about him, those PIM totals

I assume he’s a big time poop disturber with some skill?

Turns 18 before September cutoff so he should be fine, no?

Virtanen was 17 when we drafted him, I believe

I wouldn't be surprised to see the top 7break down like this.

Donna would get his man, and I'd win the bet.

Win win..... except the Canucks would have drafted an oj clone who is right handed.
