CA tends to generally not care for "safe" picks where teams are guaranteed a player, regardless of whether thats a 4th liner or not, when some places do put a lot of value in the low ceiling, high floor.

I think he showed middle 6 potential during the 2nd half of the season. I don’t love him, but if the Canucks took him in the 2nd round, I wouldn’t be upset(unless someone I really love is still there).

His realistic NHL “ceiling” is a 2nd liner

Zadina
Tkachuk

My best guess at how the picks in front of us will go for today. Would leave us 3 Dmen to pick from, but if Wahlstrom is there I don't think we can pass up that chance

Those are their rankings. I think generally at the end of the first round teams pick the for sure NHLer vs the player with higher risk. Go back to the risky picks at the top of the 2nd round or someone who has dropped down from the consensus rankings.

I would lol if Bergevin is just (frank)ing with everyone and takes Zadina

Same. It could happen. In that case Wahlstrom is gone and we take Dobson or Boqvist

Lots of players have a poop run or two through the playoffs when they're getting started. Only Peter Chiarelli is the kind of guy who overreacts to that.

Are you Peter Chiarelli?

- Lindenis#1

Alright muffin, I thought Ehlers (like you right now) looked like a muffin in the playoffs. I'm sorry, but really not sorry at all if you don't like it. Like I said, it's possible he does better in the future.

Take the goal scorer over the power forward. As we've seen with JV those guys can take a while to mature and you can probably trade for them on the cheap if you're opportunistic vs having to draft them
- NorthNuck

Ya I get this argument for sure. I don't think maturation is Tkachuk's issue though.

I really think 2nd/3rd round is the only spot I'll be disappointed this year. Were getting a gem at 7 regardless IMO

It’s also a lot easier to find a gritty player to complete a skill line than it is to acquire a legit 30+ goal scorer to complete a line.

The skilled players can make that gritty player look better than he is while he creates space for them so he doesn’t have to be a legit 50 point player.

The Twins had a lot of linemates in their careers. Not a lot of those linemates had a lot of Sedins in their careers.

I was thinking of a similar response. It was much easier to find a Carter/Klatt/Burrows to compliment the twins, than it was to find a winger for Kesler

Its why people panicking over the future of the team at LW strike me as odd.

Lines have worked as a 2 man unit with a rotating third for a long ass time. So if you believe in Bo and Bozer as a 2 man unit, the third there doesn't *really* matter as long as they can make plays.

Apparently Gillis offered Burrows, Bieksa, #22(Schroeder) for #2 in 2009(Hedman)

lol I remember when AV called out Kesler for actually being the problem on his line and not the solution. Good times.

He wasn't wrong. Kesler used to be great at using his linemates. Then the Twins banked 20 of the 40 goals in off his ass and he decided that he was Ovechkin after.

I remember that. That was back when those bankrupt dumbies had... Lawton? as the GM and he was willing to trade anything for everything.

Musing on whether the Canucks should go for Zadina or Tkachuk if they fall to seven on Friday. I think there's a chance at least one of them might be there:

I'm not sure that was ever the case, but then again I can't remember exactly how he played when he first broke into the league. Generally speaking, he was never a center that made his wingers better and for me that's the worst attribute a center could have

Great might have been an overstatement. But he used to be willing to pass instead of turn every 2 on 1 and 3 on 1 into a 1 on 1, or every 2 on 2 or 3 on 2 into a 1 on 2.

I remember someone did a video or article breaking it down in 2012 or 13 and basically Kesler stopped passing on odd man rushes in 2012 compared to the way the rest of the team played rushes. Now, you can blame it on linemates but you can also get yourself into a chicken/egg argument on it.

Driving the wife to work ( I am a good husband)

Botch could not get over the fact that Tkachuk had 8 goals this year. Doesn't matter he had 31 pts n 40 games he had only 8 goals.

I was going to state last night that it will be a busy week for the Canucks, Dahliwal confirmed on SN650 things could start happening as soon as this morning.
He expects a very busy week.

I too would love more draft picks but think the timing is wrong for moving any of the big 3 unless it is a great deal.

No point in bringing half-assed takes to a hockey message board... I prefer reading an educated argument (whether I agree with it or not) to hedged opinions.
- DrChristianTroy

The point is it's still an opinion, no matter how perfect some people think they are.
