I wonder how NHL teams value picks beyond the 2nd round. Generally half the players in the draft never play an NHL game. Only about 30 of those players ever make a regular impact on a team.

My prediction is every year the draft will get better and better. There is too much money being thrown around these days and parents are now training kids year round and at a younger age.

Botch could not get over the fact that Tkachuk had 8 goals this year. Doesn't matter he had 31 pts n 40 games he had only 8 goals.

I was going to state last night that it will be a busy week for the Canucks, Dahliwal confirmed on SN650 things could start happening as soon as this morning.
He expects a very busy week.

I too would love more draft picks but think the timing is wrong for moving any of the big 3 unless it is a great deal.

We are trading our pick to Rangers for 9 and 39, then move 9 to Islanders for 11 and 43, then 11 to Flyers for 14 and 50.
3 extra 2nd rounders for moving down 7 spots.
That was easy.

Apperently the league is unhappy with the idea of Hossa's contract being used in trades. If we take it on I'm sure they will change the rules retroactively to (frank) us again.

Would be funny when they are paying former players still under contract to work in league office.

I would be willing to wager he scores more than 8 goals a year in the NHL

It's the tale of two Tkachuk's. During his USDP, he had some decent players to play with but late first round picks.

At BU, it's sort of the same. He's playing with good players but still he's probably their best player.

At WJ this year playing with a better player in Mittelstadt. He showed his best.

He's a good player by himself, he's a great player as a complement player.

& complimentary players shouldn’t be taken 7th overall.

How many non complimentary players do you think there is in a "normal" draft?

If he wasn't a Canuck he would have never been hired.

An NHL team isn't like the mob. You don't promote family to consolidate power. Franny's gotta learn the difference.

- Lindenis#1

I love this post.

The best thing Linden ever did for the franchise was actually get traded.

I know that's not a popular sentiment but it's true.

He is more of a playmaker than a scorer. Also, his 6% shooting percentage certainly played a part.

Not many... But that doesn’t mean you shift focus to seeking lesser potential at 7.

If you’re going to settle for a mid to late first round skillset at 7 you might as well trade the pick.

Just wondering who you think has more potential then Tkachuk at 7?

I think 7-12 is a cluster(frank) of overrated garbage. Last year at this time I was telling everyone about Pettersson and people thought it was a massive reach to consider him at 5 because everyone goes off consensus rather than skillset.

My best case scenario is Veleno and Miller with a PHI trade

I think when the smoke clears most will find out there is not a huge gap between Dobson Bouchard Miller McIssac Ginning Tychonick

I don’t like Veleno at all. Don’t mind Miller, but certainly not my preference.

Veleno is a good playmaker
