Some of the ownership theories here are pretty far fetched

I doubt he’s calling up Jim everyday asking him about trades and sending him lists of trades and draft rankings

Owners are involved in the direction of the team and probably only step in with a say when it involves a blockbuster trade or signing or re-signing a star UFA. And hiring GM’s/Coaches of course(Torts).

He had a stupid ass plan after firing Gillis but the plan’s execution isn’t on the owner. Only the
plan itself is.

For what its worth, I have a lot of time for Meddling Franny from about 2012-2014 ish, heck you could probably sell me on it up until Christmas last year.

But I think he's probably taken a back seat the last year here. But everytime I heard something about "paying fans" and "meaningful games" and whatever I can't shake that being the business spin on ownership wanting to win quickly.

Some of the stories about him back in like 2003 and 2004 are pretty nuts. There is one where after a particularly bad game I guess he went into Burke's office and said the entire defence needed to be traded and he wasn't going to pay a single one anymore.

Also apparently the DJ around 2005 I guess got in trouble from The Family because they didn't like the music and I guess one of them made a playlist and gave the arena DJ an iPod with the songs to play.

Kravtsov and Miller.

I like this or Veleno and Miller. For sure a pipe dream, but man would that be sweet.

IF it’s trading down to Philadelphia for a couple 1st rounders fine. It’s not like the 7th pick is going to get us Karlsson.

On the NHL Draft …

Bob McKenzie: “I can tell you this, Kotkaniemi got multiple votes in the top 5 from the 10 scouts I talked to, same thing with Dobson. Hughes and Bouchard had more than one mention as a top 5 prospect. Boqvist, Wahlstrom, Hayton & Kravtsov, all of them got a mention in top 5.”

McKenzie: “Multiple scouts have Zadina falling out their top 5 now, I don’t think it’s cause he has done anything wrong with his game, but I think it’s cause the centremen (Kotkaniemi, Hayton) and d-men (Boqvist, Hughes, Bouchard, Dobson) have really stepped up.”

What would it take to get the Hawks 8th overall — if they’re willing to part...

Goldy, 2nd + for Hossa and 8th?
Tanev, Goldy, 2nd for Hossa, Seabrook, 8th? (Like FA would spend that much...)

I was just about to type "what a bunch of bullpoop" piling up in this thread.

You know what I find funny about this narrative that is so popular about FA overstepping.... All those days Gilman spent on 1040 with those guys constantly egging him to spill the beans and once and for all validate the speculation and Gilman finally one day goes off... :you know guys, it's nothing like you think... every team's owner is involved in certain areas and no one in the industry calls it meddling. That's just the way it is... it's no different with other teams.

99% speculation fueled by one person... Gillis. It's never gone away and has deflected so much accountability. Gillis was the master of throwing people under the bus much in the way he was master of the verbal agreement with multiple teams at once when he was an agent.

FA and Burke stories. And why shouldnt the owner do the kick the trash can routine like a coach once in a while. GM does it to the coach as well...

This idea that ownership still wants win now is funny. Pay attention much? Benning is still here and his only strength and success has been drafting... not winning now. Contract extended.... wake up will you lol

If Chicago want to get rid of Hossa's contract they need to pay.

It is either the 8 th OA or three picks one for every year and it starts with the 27 th or keep the contract

The only reason Linden was hired was for PR, and to be FA's mouthpiece, so that he himself would be able to appear to be hands off the team. The fact of the matter is, Linden has no real responsibilities other than to take the heat for FA. I feel sorry for him actually, if he hadn't been "Captain Canuck", and fairly successful in business outside of the NHL he'd never have been brought back.

Again, until FA sells the team to someone who doesn't have his ego tied to the team's success and financial solvency dependant upon it, the Canucks are going to have to win in spite of ownership meddling and upper management bumbling.

- DariusKnight

I disagree, I think it's certainly easy to say Linden was only hires to be a mouth piece because it fits the narrative that Aquaman is the reason this team can't, couldn't, won't get over the hump.

I'm not a fan of the Aquilini's nor do I know much about them other than the work they do for autism charities.
I do think I have a decent handle on the type of person Linden is based off of the way he played the game, conducted himself on and off the ice and the few opportunities I've had to meet him.

I've never got the impression that Linden is the type of guy who would be willing to take a job to be a mouthpiece. For better or worse he took the job because he thinks he can do the job and likely wouldn't risk his reputation as " Captain Canuck" to be Aquaman's b1tch.

Apperently the league is unhappy with the idea of Hossa's contract being used in trades. If we take it on I'm sure they will change the rules retroactively to (frank) us again.

We are trading our pick to Rangers for 9 and 39, then move 9 to Islanders for 11 and 43, then 11 to Flyers for 14 and 50.
3 extra 2nd rounders for moving down 7 spots.
That was easy.

I wonder how NHL teams value picks beyond the 2nd round. Generally half the players in the draft never play an NHL game. Only about 30 of those players ever make a regular impact on a team.

i said to you last week that it took 7 years to build the 2011 core from the sedins and optimistically if we counted from horvat that we were another year or 2 away of adding to make a new core. linden is lurking on hockeybuzz for his pr spins lol
