If Jim trades the 7th it’s because linden and Aquilini want him to. You guys think Jim has autonomy for some reason lol
- CanuckDon

I believe he does. Just as I believe the government is looking out for my best interests.

Couldn’t disagree more. Based on our probable options, trading the pick is my preference. 7th pick in this draft is an awful value spot IMO. At this point I’m just hoping it falls in our favor (someone unexpectedly falls) or another team loves a particular kid & makes us an offer.
- DrChristianTroy

Only agree on this if it's traded for more picks, not players, that's a mistake in my opinion. Some great players have been taken around there, you're just not admitting it.

2015 - Provorov is a great value pick at #7.
2015 - Werenski at #8.
2015 - Rantanen at #10

2014 - Nylander and Ehlers at #8 & #9.

2013 - Monahan, Nurse, Ristolainen & Horvat at 6-7-8-9

As examples.

Of course, it's an 800 million dollar corporation, business decisions are made with a management group in this case. But we still need a fall-guy!

I think Dobson is going to become a top pairing D.

I’m in agreement.

If no defence have been taken before the 7th pick you bet Jim isn’t moving it. He will take the best defencman and run unless a deal is there to accumulate more picks.

I’m not admitting what exactly... I’m not talking about the historic value at 7. I’m talking about MY opinion of the players in that range THIS year.

He didn't wow me watching him at the Mem Cup, but he's not dog meat either, nice player just no wow factor to his game.

The kid seems to have the toolbox to go along with his tools. I also like the fact he has already played far from home for a year, that's a big step for many young players.

A guy like Sami Salo never wowed anyone, except for sometimes when he shot but he was easily a top pairing guy when healthy.

Ok fair enough, although, the same thing could've been said about the players in those years as far as their value. Looking back, there's tons of value there, and I suspect, when we look back in three years at this draft, there'll be tons of value there again around the #7 position.

You just can't see it because your stethoscope is in your way!

Ya he just has “it” in my opinion. He has the skills but also a great attitude and insane work ethic. We have seen so many prospects stop putting in the work once they sign their first contract

He's a potatohead. They all have a solid work ethic.

I don't think he'll be on the board at 7 though.

Your biggest "wow" factor defenders in the league right now are? Subban, Burns, Karlsson, Ghost, Jones, Buff. Anyone else?

I too have been advocating for a trade down (14 & 19) and I never like trading down.
Apparently the Rangers also want too move up a couple spots, they have 9th 26 28 and 39. Getting the 9th and any one (or 2) of those other 3 picks would be a decent return also. IMO.

I think its a pretty poorly kept secret at this point that Montreal is taking Kokatakieniemomi

Ottawa at 4 is where things get curious for me. Because I can see them going Tkachuk, Zadina, Bouchard or Dobson.

There have been a few rumblings on Twitter that Arizona has the hots for Tkachuk, but I don't think they pass on Zadina at all. It also wouldn't be too wild to see them take a dman either.

Detroit at 6 I think determines a lot. They haven't had a good RH dman since like... Rafalski. I could see them taking Bouchard or Dobson, but Hughes being down the road at Michigan wouldn't be out of character for them either.

Any way you slice it, there is a good chance there is a real good dman still dangling at 7.

I seent that NYR wants a center so I think they're happy at 9 as long as Hayton or that other kid are still on the board and I think at least one of them will be.

What? Why would NY want a center? They will take a D for sure

You can never have enough centres. 8 centres on their current roster.

i don't know. that what some tweet from some guy that got retweeted into my timeline by one of the zillion hockey people said.

i could see them going volume on D with their later picks. Depending who you talk to there are a lot of flyers at the end of the first/start of the second and they've got enough picks to not make it a big deal if they go a bit bananas

Easily. Apparently they loved having Larkin at UMich. Close proximity and I guess they like the heads running the program there.

Only real reason I could see them passing is because they want a RH D.
