#Habs Bergevin on Domi’s deployment: “We watched him (play centre with AZ) last year but we know he’s a better winger. In a jam I guess he could help at centre but we don’t want to put him expecting as a centreman.”

So Habs make a trade for another "winger who could play center, not very well", in the process lose offence - especially on the power play - in exchange for an empty goal specialist who (statistically speaking - pardon my Tanner) is not better defensively than Galchenyuk.

At least MB is self-aware enough to know he did not make a trade that helps the Habs become better. At the very least, if MB is lucky, it is a lateral move.... except he now has 1 less trade chip to use in trying to improve the team.

Oh yeah, cap space.

Now we can overpay a few other mediocre players for 5-6-7 year contracts so Alzner does not feel lonely.

(frank) this tire fire.

Part of me in convinced MB wanted to play for the Habs back in his day and they laughed at him. He now has the opportunity to exact revenge and (frank) up the franchise for the next 10-15 years and he is doing a great job of it.

I can guarantee, if Jack Johnson is coming to the Habs, it will be for $6M+ per year.

As it stands now the top 9 would be Pacioretty, Gallagher, Drouin, Domi, Danault, Byron, Lekhonen, Scherbak and whoever they draft 3rd, assuming it's a F of course... Am I forgetting anyone? Plekanec maybe lol!!

Our top 9 has 1 center.

But it now has Attitude and CHaracter.

And if you can't have talent, at least you got that.

I guess its worth noting we are all missing an important bit of silver lining.

Chucky's sister will need to go entertain the good folks of Glendale if she wishes to keep her relationship with her brother going.

He'd be leaving at least $15M on the table if he leaves the Islanders (extra year, plus Isles have most cap space in the NHL right now at $28M, and that's before the cap rises). He's also a notoriously loyal guy who likes Long Island and likes NYC. There's always a chance, but now with some credible management, I don't think he's leaving the Islanders.

Real odds (from an Islanders fan who follows the situation):

NYI 75-80% (there's always the chance this late that some team blows him away in the listening period).
Other 20-25%.

Of the other options:

Vegas 40%
New Jersey 20%
San Jose 20%
St. Louis 15%
Other 5% (MTL, BUF, TOR, LAK, etc.).

It means if the Habs somehow manage to sign JT, he will not be loyal to the Habs, but still loyal to the Isles.

Another reckless trade by a GM who has turned the franchise into a step by step guide of how to destroy a team. I have nothing against Domi and think he's a solid player with some potential. But again we traded one of our best assets for a winger rather than help at centre or D. If our "plan" is to convert another winger to be a centre, we're just hitting the tip of the iceberg of how effed things are going to get.

I think Galchenyuk's tenure as a Hab is a perfect representation of how poorly Bergy and co have managed their players. Drafted #3 to be a centre. Bought up too early and plugged into the lineup as a winger. Never given a fair shot to be the centre he was drafted to be. Thrown under the bus by Bergevin always saying "he's just not ready" to the media. Traded for a player less skilled with more "character".

And PS. Galchenyuk had produced much better as a centre during his brief opportunities than Drouin did last year as one. And Bergevin never said boo about it. That is blatant French-Canadian bias.

Good luck in Arizona Chucky. You deserved better.

You’re missing the point bud. The big reason MB gets so much shyte (and rightfully so) is because he’s not running things correctly. The Habs need a full scale REBUILD. They shouldn’t retool, they’re no where near competing or relevancy even with a healthy Price backpacking. Everything needs to be properly torn down and start from scratch.
- FinnGod

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been advocating for the last 3 years, bud. I’m just throwing ideas in the actual context, being that the Habs still have Bergevin as their GM, a very bad GM.

Watching this management team systematically dismantle this team is like being awake during surgery!

I thought they were gonna go with Kotkaniemi, but if Domi is suppose to be a playmaker, my guess is Zedina. Not sure what cluster(frank) of a mess on who plays center on this team, regardless.
