Brandon Smillie: Canadiens Acquire Max Domi for A Galchenyuk… Domi as 2nd line C?
- Brandon Smillie

to me, the only way this galchenyuk trade makes even an iota of sense, is if the canadiens draft zadina. he would, hopefully, replace the offense lost from galchenyuk and the canadiens would additionally have another Gallagher type in domi in their top 9. but if bergevin goes off the board and drafts a centre or dman, he needs to be admitted for psychiatric evaluation immediately.

LW currently on the team:

Pacioretty, Drouin, Domi, Lehkonen, Byron, Hudon. But you think they should draft a LW?

Centers on the team: Danault, DLR, sometimes shaw

They're convinced Drouin is a C, Pacioretty will probably get dealt in less than a week and Zadina played RW plenty in Halifax

Drouin is used as a center. Some of those LW will play on the right side.

You draft the best player available.

Drouin isn't a center. With Galchenyuk and potentially Pacioretty out I'm not sure who will score goals, thus you would have to draft Zadina.

After Svechnikov at 2, the degree of separation between 3-6 guys is not much.

Some scouts have Thachuk ahead of Zadina. Many scouts have Kotkaniemi jumping into top 5.

Good wingers don't get you good centers in a trade. Pacioretty won't land you ROR. You will need to add to Pacioretty. Draft the player you think will be worth the most to the success of your team

And I'm sure Kotkaniemi could too if he doesn't work at center. None of the guys in that list can play center Zadina included.

So pick the best scorer available since the team finished 28th in goals for

I actually think there is a lot of potential goals in the lineup.

30 goal guys: Gallagher, Pacioretty
20 goal guys; Lehkonen, Drouin, Byron, Domi

But when you don't have a pmd transitioning the puck down the ice like Markov did for years, those guys are all affected. When you don't have strength down the middle those guys again all are affected.

I'm going to be happy with Zadina or happy with Kotkaniemi. To me it is one or the other.

I doubt Pacioretty will still be there, wouldn't be surprised if Byron gets moved as well although his surgery might of messed that up!

Lekhonen is still very unproven and Drouin & Domi barely cracked the 20 goal mark combined last season

Everybody says he's like his brother just a little bit better at everything and he had 49 points in 68 games last season with Calgary at 20
- Fredobbface

Yet, his numbers in the US under-18 program are far less impressive than Matthew's at the same age. Matthew had about 1.40PPG while Brady is around 0,9PPG so yeah, everybody might be wrong on that one. Quinn Hughes had pretty much the same production than Brady in the NCAA last year. Not to mention that Brady is the oldest player in the draft. I wouldn't pick him in the top 10 for sure.

Don't like the trade but I guess it was inevitable.

Toxic relationship with his father mainly caused it.

You should keep depth player like Byron, 20 goals scorer on such a cheap contract...not to mention he can move up and down the lineup and still be decent.
