Respectfully, I disagree.

Now if he ends up as. 3LW then so be it. He looked awesome next to Couts that one game...

He does skate well and possess a very good shot. If he plays wing there's a good chance he will produce more.

- VladDrag

I do agree, it seems his best games seem to be when he is on the wing.

The Stastny idea seems interesting as a 3rd line center.

I do have some intrigue with possible buyout guys. Like Corey Perry. If he got bought out could you get him on a 1 or 2 year deal at moderate cap hit. Spezza interest me on a 1 year deal as a 3rd line center. Dubinsky would interest me on a 1 year deal. Just think there could be some possible low risk, short term options.

They have like 9 guys for the bottom 6. They will need to experiment to find lines that click is basically what it comes down to. Several of the guys have the ability to play center or wing.
- YuenglingJagr

That's why i wonder what Laughton's value is. They have guys like Vecchione, Bardreau, Aube-Kubal, Weal and even maybe Corbin Knight that can play in your bottom 6.

Those guys have bottom-6 potential. I wouldn't say anyone of them, outside of Weal, are sure-fire NHL players, and even Weal is a but of a question mark. Laughton is a proven NHL player.

I think Laughton would probably be more valuable to the Flyers than he would to another team

For me he has proven he can handle a 4th line role. I understand that the others haven't shown in the NHL yet, but that isn't a huge amount of value to me unless he is a regular exceptional PK guy, which he was taken of the PK.

I had actually hoped Laughton would be more Antione Roussell type. Provide an energy on the forecheck, score some timely goals, kill penalties and be a edgy type player.

I actually have a feeling one is dealt at the draft. Not sure what the return is but think someone is gone.

Could Lyon fetch an early 2nd round pick? Just not sure they keep them all as Hart will get plenty of games in Lehigh.

- J35Bacher

Lyon doesn't have anywhere near that much value.

I like a 3 year deal in the 4-6 range. Frankly we have the cap space, he won't really overlap with the future contracts, and he makes us a better team now with out having to give anything up but cap space, which lets be real we wont be a cap team for at least another 2 years.

I think hexy can money ball the poop out of the 17ish mill in cap space he has this year. Sign a bunch of 1 year deals and see where it gets us. Leave 4ish mill in cap space just incase and we are gtg.

Your probably right.

I was more just trying to talk out loud.

It's just fun that the Flyers actually have options because they aren't in cap trouble, they have prospect depth and they have multiple picks.

Coots always had the defensive acumen and skills you want to see in a center, Laughton doesn't.
- BiggE

Couturier is a 1C and Selke nominee. We're just talking about a 3C here, a role that last year was filled by a veteran who produced points at a lower rate 5 on 5 than Laughton, and also got blown off the ice in shot attempts.

There's really no reason to think Laughton can't get to 30 points with increased usage. He's already got to 20 twice despite receiving very limited ES ice time, and no PP time.

There will be options. Seem to be a lot of talk about buyout guys. Perry would be an interest of mine. i know he has had a down year but guy can still find the net and also still plays a mean game. Add him to a line with Patrick and Voracek. You have a shooter who goes to the net.

That's why I hope they just send Weise to Lehigh and hope he asks for his release to go over seas or look for an opportunity somewhere as a FA
- J35Bacher

Give up on this fantasy. He's not going anywhere with $4,100,000 left on his contract.

Things Laughton is good enough to do:
-play bottom 6 center in the NHL
-play wing in the NHL
-kill penalties
-play with good linemates

Things Laughton is not good enough to do:
- grow hair on his head
- carry around Lehtera or Weise

And that is fine. But i still put him in Lehigh and use the savings to promote someone like Aube-Kubal to the Flyers.

Id do it, what else are they going to do with comcasts money.

Imo its a waste if they dont burn at least 50% of their open cap money on a 1 yr deal.

They would chuck him in the minors if they needed too. If the LVP roster is gutted by callups or injuries, and hes sitting in the pressbox you better believe hes going to be next years Reed.

These are reasonable suggestions, but I would rather see what Laughton could do as the 3C first. He's 24 years old and it's time to give him more ice time and better wingers and see how he does. He already turned his possession game around from 15-16 when it was bad.
- Feanor

what has laughton done to earn more ice time? if he wasnt a 1st rd pick he probably would have been gone already

That's why i asked.

Maybe a team like Detroit who has two early 2nd round picks? Probably he would be a piece in a deal.

Laughton + Lyon for Detroit's 33? Take Farabee at 14, Berggren at 19 and then Foudy or Miller at 33? You have Vecchione who seems like he could be a 4th line center.

Laughton might have more value to another team compared to the Flyers.

- J35Bacher

detroit is rebuilding, so why do they make that move? those 2 players are beyond a dime a dozen
