Sounds like Hextall is fine with waiving two of Lyon, Neuvirth and Stolarz to the AHL in October if necessary. - Feanor
I actually have a feeling one is dealt at the draft. Not sure what the return is but think someone is gone.
Could Lyon fetch an early 2nd round pick? Just not sure they keep them all as Hart will get plenty of games in Lehigh. |

Trading 19 for immediate Nhl help is something Ronald hasn’t done. At some point I hope he does. He has never really given the flyers any immediate help in any of his trades. Hell even his free agent signings.
No issue moving down from 19 to get other assets
Peeps have mentioned Bennett. That is something the flyers have he assets for to acquire assuming Calgary is looking to move him.
Make it worth their while to get him - rinaldo

The Calgary trade to me feels like the most realistic and something that could happen. Bennett's name was out there at the deadline and Calgary has made it know they want to get back into the 1st round.
Bennett works moving with this teams development because of his age and he can shift to wing if Frost or Vorobyev prove ready. He kills penalties which is a plus. - J35Bacher
The Calgary deal would be, by far, my preference compared to the other 2.

These are reasonable suggestions, but I would rather see what Laughton could do as the 3C first. He's 24 years old and it's time to give him more ice time and better wingers and see how he does. He already turned his possession game around from 15-16 when it was bad. - Feanor
I'm kind of ambivalent on that. When I look at Laughton, I see a guy whose skill set seems to better suited to playing the wing at the NHL level. He just doesn't seem to have either the playmaking ability nor the defensive acumen that I want in a top 9 center. |

Good, established NHL goaltenders can barely get you an early 2nd round pick. Lyon is 25 and has yet to establish himself as a legit NHL backup, let alone a #1. At best, you might get a 5th from a team that has little depth in goal and goal prospects.

I feel the same way.
I know it kind of sounds like the Couturier argument "give him wings and maybe you'll see him produce" but I just don't see that like I did with Couturier.

He's been a good penalty killer at pretty much every level he's played, but I still don't see him as top 9 center. I think he could though be a nice 3rd line LW who can kill penalties and move to center if needed in a pinch.

Coots always had the defensive acumen and skills you want to see in a center, Laughton doesn't.

Maybe a team like Detroit who has two early 2nd round picks? Probably he would be a piece in a deal.
Laughton + Lyon for Detroit's 33? Take Farabee at 14, Berggren at 19 and then Foudy or Miller at 33? You have Vecchione who seems like he could be a 4th line center.
Laughton might have more value to another team compared to the Flyers. |

Team Negative is up early today. Hmm, finished 3rd in the metro, has one of the deepest prospect pools in the league, has a legit #1 D who is only 21 years old, has a good 1-2 punch center who will be 25 and 20 at the start of next year, holds 2 first round picks in the upcoming draft, and has ample cap space going into this offseason.
Yup, everything is just god awful and Hextall should be shot.

Well, I guess it's not a big deal, since he'll be our for 8 months once he sees the first shot in training camp. |

That's why I hope they just send Weise to Lehigh and hope he asks for his release to go over seas or look for an opportunity somewhere as a FA |

I just don't see it from Detroit's point of view. The Wings are loaded with some bad cap deals and should be in total rebuild mode right now. I can't see them wanting to move any of their high seconds for a goalie whose ceiling is probably that of an NHL backup and a forward, one year away from being an RFA, whose ceiling is probably that of a 3rd line wing and even that might be a reach.
Detroit would be much smarter to just hold onto their picks and see what opportunities come up during the 1st round. Besides, 6, they currently hold picks 30, 33, and 36 so if a guy they really like drops down to 20 or below, they have the ammo to move up. The Flyers deal would probably not appeal to them at all. |

Well...would you trade him for a 5th? Go with an Elliott/Lyon tandem next year with Stolarz as your #1 call-up/AHL backup? |

Respectfully, I disagree.
Now if he ends up as. 3LW then so be it. He looked awesome next to Couts that one game...
He does skate well and possess a very good shot. If he plays wing there's a good chance he will produce more. |

They have like 9 guys for the bottom 6. They will need to experiment to find lines that click is basically what it comes down to. Several of the guys have the ability to play center or wing. |
