NFW (no (frank)ing way) with Q manning the rudder.
Blowman will attempt to find players to fit into Q's pegs and when they aren't quite the perfect match, Q will attempt to hammer in those pegs before giving up and pressboxing or otherwise shunning said players.
Oh and the conversation about the jersey collars?
There are a few here old enough -- reminds me of Buster Brown's getup. - savvyone-1

What was Barker's downfall? I just remember him being relatively bad, but not really why. Really good shot and nothing else? |

Cap Friendly shows same numbers. Love those terms -Bowman finally smartening up and playing more hard ball? |

Let's hope so.
Hard to complain about that cap hit for Hayden, who hopefully can excel in a 3rd/4th line role with the big club in the next 2 years. |

Skating -too slow.
Bouchard has good size and apparently a bomb from the point like Barker but his skating is the main question. This aspect may also prevent him from transitioning to the faster NHL. |

The Tampa Bay blogger suggested that the Bolts should possibly move Stralman at the draft. He thinks that they need to shed salary in order to sign other guys in the future.
What do you think we would need to offer TB in order to get him? The 27th pick plus one of our young D man? Would we even want Stralman? He's pretty solid #4 D man. He's got 2 more years at 4.5 m. |

Bouchard is a finesse player next to Seabrook.
I put up my new mock draft board on DraftSite with the optimistic hope that Vancouver isn't frightened by Adam Boqvist's end of the season concusssion and still go defense as they planned.
That would drop a forward, maybe Brady...
I think there will be three defenders there and I don't like the options whittled to Dobson and Bouchard IF Boqvist is scary.
Three team say the would trade down, but that doesn't mean squat:
Montreal
Arizona
Vancouver
If Montreal doesn't reach at #3 for Jesperi, I am very afraid Arizona (still looking for a true big centre option) or Detroit(if Quinn Hughes is off the board) take him

Good against kids, not so much against men. He was a star in juniors so he might have been felt a bit entitled. His hands weren't the best, drinking lunch and dinner didn't help much either. And fwiw, I had a real good view for years including when Barker was here. Everybody talks about his booming shot, cannon from the point.......
I never saw it. He might have had trouble adapting to the new type of sticks that were coming into the game around that time. The balance and feel of the metal and composite shafts take some getting used to after having used to a wooden stick growing up. I never got used to them, and maybe he didn't while he was here either. The only thing for sure is he was a bust based on expectations. It happens. |

Hi Wiz. About a decade ago we had a disagreement about Seabrook's skating. But other than that Seabrook is a great player and I'd say he has a bit of finesse to his game as well. Any troubles he has stem from his not being able to get there so well as the game has progressively gotten faster. But if he had the C on his sweater I don't think it would be out of line.
It's my understanding that Bouchard was the captain in London, and in a rebuilding situation stepped up and had a very good year. Never have seen him play, but that sounds like a character guy to me. That's where I was coming from.
Speaking of captains, how about Ben Smith, captain of the Marlies and the Calder Cup Champs as of last night. Good on him, Garrett Sparks, and the rest of them. And if anyone thinks the NHL refs struggle, last night was the worst application of the replay I've ever seen. Sparks had a shutout no matter the box score.

What do you think of Filppula as a 3rd/4th C/LW. His $5 mil conrtract was crazy high when he signed it 5 years ago. I am thinking maybe you could sign him for $2.5 mil for 2 or 3 years. UFA, Decent speed, 50% plus at the dot, can play in all situations, probably 12 to 15 goals and 30+ assists, smart hockey player, averaged close to 80 games the last 5 years, 6'0" 195, okay plus minus numbers, left handed. |

I really like Filppula, and would be really happy if they picked him up for that number. That could effectively end AA's time here. |

He does have great flow.
I value him more, too.
Honestly, I feel like the 750K was him probably understanding that the Hawks could be trying to save some money for something in the works. Big John seems like he'd be the kind of dude that was cool with just being able to resign and not whine about money - which is what his mindset should be right now as a rookie'ish player still learning the ropes. |

I like him too, but in all honesty, he didn't have a ton of leverage. Like many on the team, he started the year pretty well, but was less and less of a factor as the season went on. Two years at that number, I think, is right where it should be. Still has yet to play a full year in the NHL, and at this point is still expected to be alower line guy. |

It's probably him understanding that he had no negotiating power to ask for more. Hayden had only 13 points, less than 11 minutes of TOI per game, and then played in less than 50 games. $750k is pretty much right on value for that type of usage and production. |

Very true.
I think he'll have a bigger role this year after going down to the Rock and finding success and developing more there. |

I love this signing. I think the young guys on the bench skate a little faster and finish their checks a little harder when he's out there. Great energy..

Great posts so far....and Endzo loved the FIXED comment. Well played.
IF Tavares does stay in NYC, and I can't see angry old LOU going there if he didn't think 91 staying was greater then 75%, then it's going to get very dangerous for baby Bowman. Lots of teams will come sniffing around Skinner and lets pray Bowman doesn't over pay for a guy just for the sake of making a move. IMO, the early returns on the two trades he made last summer to get younger and "cost controlled" he has failed at.
I know some guys here don't mind Murphy, but he gets turned inside out so many times it's sickening and not a guy IMO you can rely on to be a top 4 guy on a cup contending team. A 5-6? Sure.....
What I do know is if Bowman gets to camp only putting a band aid on his flawed roster Quenneville will be fired by X mas, and Bowman will be gone in April. That approach and thinking that 2/7/19 are going to find their 2008-2015 games is flawed and insane.
