So 65 have played, 10 have won? Those aren’t terrible odds. 15% of players that small, if I’m reading that right. 4% with an impact, but I’d assume that’d be about the number of 6’+ players as well. - NewYorkNuck
You are pretty much perfectly correct. Players that played an nhl game in that 10 year span.
65 out of 2595 .025%
10 out of 419 .025%
It's perfectly equal.
I added in a min 20 games played during the regular season.
10 out of 325 .0307
65 out of 1982 .0324
Take away that 1" from the 5'11" and you have 183 and only 2 players in the past 10 years that have won cups.

No it's great, wha to save on Messi - LeftCoaster
Terrible Penalty kick. That's perfect height and range for a goalie.
Soccer is my first love. |

Thanks for doing the legwork on that! 👍
Ya, it’s easier to be less-skilled and big, and still be useful. But I agree, if you’re skilled and big it’s better than being smaller — doubly so for defense!

I'm short, it was a good sport for me. I'm taller then Messi. |

Sorry, I added a bit too it for the 5'10" players. When it comes to playing defence, size still does matter. For now at least. |

Barring injury he probably has 5-6 more good years in him. |

Yeah I’m not even going to touch on the short subject. Being 5’ 9 15/16” I know all about being overlooked for taller players. |

Definitely – probably why there's still so few smaller players in the league: they have to be that much more skilled/smart than the average tall player to stick all the way up. |

There's your top 4 for the next 10 years. All in 1 draft. With Lefty's forward group. Like I said.... Dynasty. |

Correlation does not equal causation.
Orlov is 5’11”, so is Strallman. Enstrom is 5’10”. Their teams are all great — it’s not a matter of an inch or two holding them and their teams back from winning a cup.
Not advocating for or against, just think it’s sort of shortsighted to not pick a kid because he doesn’t magically reach the 6’ bar right now. - NewYorkNuck
It's not the 6foot barrier, it's the 5'10" barrier.
If they're shorter then 5'11", then they aren't real people. Hughes is 5'9", he's not even a real person. His top end is a number 3 LH PPQB. Juolevi has the number 3 LHD position locked down, we need RHD. Boquist is very similar to Hughes, but he's 5'11.5" so he's a real person. |
