Tkachuk isn't my first choice of who I want at 7 but I don't think that is a fair comparison.
Jake relied on putting up points primarily by skating fast down the wing and shoot from the circles and for the most part that is his go to offensive contribution still.
I think Tkachuk is actually an underrated play-maker and if he gets held back in the NHL it will because of his inability to keep up with the play. He's good in front of the net and obviously he likes to be a pest.
I take Wahlstrom and a few D before Tkachuk but at 7 I don't think its a bad pick. - belcherbd

Tkachuk is a fine pick at 7. Not my preference but I wouldn’t be critical. He would certainly bring an element of size and skill we haven’t had since burtuzzi |

I think it will be hard to be disappointed next Friday no matter who they take.

Would Tampa be willing to move JT Miller ? He would be a pretty awesome 2C to help EP be successful.
I know he is a recent addition but he needs to be resigned, they have cap troubles and a number of bad contracts.

My prediction...
Sabres - Dahlin
Hurricanes - Svechnikov
Canadiens - Hughes
Colorado via Senators - Zadina
Coyotes - Boqvist
Red Wings - Dobson
Canucks - Tkachuk - LeftCoaster
Sorry Lefty, can't see Montreal even considering Hughes. That organization is already paranoid about being too small up front, having 5'-10" Hughes and 5'-10" Victor Mete on the back end will probably cause a riot |

I like the Kassian comparison better, prospect wise at least.
Heavy feet, nasty and good playmaker, obviously some other activities side-tracked kassian but he was a pretty legit prospect when buffalo took him. |

Are the Tkachuks (father included) the second coming of the Hanson Brothers? |

Maybe more like poor man's Hull family?
Maybe the Primeau Bro's would be a better fit? |

Agreed, there is a pretty consensus top 10 and while I may not love all of them, they have strengths that justify using the 7th pick to get one rather than trading outside that range |

As long as they make the pick or trade it for a more picks in the 1st/2nd then I wont be disappointed. |

That's the beauty of having so many holes to fill.

have just come to the conclusion that all of this tryamkin talk is mostly about trying to get him traded
both from canucks and his side
that tanev/virtanen/tryamkin for ror rumour has really stuck with me - BobBot

I hope not, I wasn't a fan of the pick and can't say I've as impressed as others with his "progression" last year but this team desperately needs some size who can play even if it is as a bottom 6 player.
Gadjovich and Mackewan are the only other players in the system with that potential and I'm not sure they skate well enough to make an impact at the NHL level. |

I don't think he is considered core. I am not sure he was even Bennings pick (Aquilinni?). I think the first year did not go well at all and the second was not much better.I think Benning would like to stop hearing the comparisons to Ehlers and Willy N
.
Jake has also come out and said he doesn't want to be a banger , he wants to produce as a top 6 player. I think when his value goes up he will be gone. That is my thoughts |
