Is there anyone legit in this draft that says this guy will be a #1 center? No. If there was, he would be ahead of Svechnikov. |

Kotkaniemi has that potential. Are you saying 100% for sure he doesn't? |

Which is exactly why you should just rank the players based on who you think will be the best NHL'er. Not trying to put lipstick on a pig and hoping the pig's face gets prettier. - Nucker101
Truthfully I am okay if they do Dobson or Bouchard . Not my first choice but hey. |

Centre all day everyday.
I would like to get anyone of Kotkaniemi Veleno Hayton or Kupari and I dont mind MacLeod.
4 of those 5 arguably should at least be very solid 2 line centres, with MacLeod as a maybe. |

I really find this idea that because Dobson is a "safe pick", that automatically means his ceiling is lowered. That is not the case at all in my opinion. What makes him a safe pick is his play in his own end and his skating. He still oozes top pairing though. He can QB a PP, is good in the offensive end 5 on 5 and has a variety of shots to use at his disposal. He already has NHL size. Somehow in this crazy world, these attributes have worked negatively in his assessments because he's safe lock to be a top 6. This idea you cant hit a home run without more risk is silly. Trade down then.... there are lots of really high risk high reward picks as you move down....lollolollollo
People are so caught up in labels.
Like Top pairing. It appears people don't think you can have a player that is good at both ends of the ice to be a top pairing. You need lights out offense. I think Dobson likely loses less of his offensive production in the NHL than some of the other highly offensive small or slow top 10 ranked dmen. Who cares if it's safe. - boonerbuck

Not really, the path to that 1C spot will be pretty damn easy

That's fine. They all fill a valuable role and can contribute big time to a contending team
Do you see stud dman potential in Bouchard? I personally can't imagine him developing into a dman I trust against top lines or on my top PK pair.
Getting a potential 50+ point dman is fine by me and something this team desperately needs now and in the future. - Nucker101

Canucks Army has Bouchard at 7. They talk about his excellent vision, passing, defensive awareness and his smarts.

nobody here "knows" anything for sure about any of the top prospects' futures. Neither does a scout or GM. We're all just guessing. - Nucker101
thats right....every source, expert, scout, GM was high on alexander daigle and was picked 1oa. Sens gave up on him 4 years in. Never did a thing in NHL

He's a safe pick because whether he can create offense or not he still likely will play in the NHL because of his skating ability, size and defensive ability.
The knock on him is doubts about his offensive creativity. He tends to generate most his offense off the rush or from point shot off the wall.
The other 3 all create offensive at elite levels in a variety of ways but have bigger question marks about size, defensive ability or skating and despite their elite offense if they can't fix the other things they might not be trusted to play at all. |
