dude ottawa gonna make some trade, Hoffman is a potential 35 goal scorer in this league and Karlsson....if they trade one of them or both they can have really good players in return... i see them maybe finishing out of the playoffs but taking the chance to give a 4th overall pick this year ? it won't happen ! if Dorion trade this pick he's out ! - Zo0by
The guy has never scored 30, can he get there first?
That said, If I M Buffalo i offer a 3rd round pick for him. |

The trade takes place post July 1st so we cover his signing bonus.
Lucic with 1mil retained to Arizona or Vegas for future considerations
Lucic with another 750k retained to:
Dallas for Hanzal
LA for Lewis
Florida for McGinn
Then send whichever player it is back to Edmonton for a pick equivalent to the value of the cap withheld (probably a 3rd or something).
- Edmonton frees up long term space, an extra protection slot and a defensive specialist (or McGinn) without giving up too much
- VGK/ARI/other get a pick for holding some cap
- And whichever team ends up with Lucic gets a player they pursued two years ago (LA and DAL) or a veteran physical presence (FLA) at a more palatable rate
- Lucic gets to go somewhere with less media scrutiny and likely rebound some |

The oil aren't getting out of that without taking on another bad contract. Maybe Lucic for B. Ryan with 2 mil retained on Ryan? |

Lucic isn't going to waive to go to Ottawa in a million years. |

Hanzal and McGinn ARE bad contracts, particularly once you factor in the added cost of retaining money on Lucic's deal. Lucic at 4.25mil is a solid cap hit for what he usually brings and would even be palatable if his performance last year is the new norm. |

Maybe for Chiarelli to achieve, but it's a completely reasonable proposition. Something like this has already happened with Brassard earlier this year- though on a lesser scale as far as years left on the contract. |

Yeah that would make sense, using RNH as a cornerstone.
RNH
Young Dman
1st, or perhaps Pulajarvi if they can pry him away or sweeten the pot. |

On a personnel front, Lucic makes sense to Montreal. Good friends with Gallagher, Weber, had best years under Julien.
Financially, Habs have the cap space right now to add him as well.
That's where reason ends. Lucic is too slow. if he cannot perform with McDavid what in the hell would he do with Montreal?
I would take a flyer on him on one condition, Edmonton sweetens the pot so considerably that it becomes a no-brainer. Say something like:
Shaw + 2nd for Lucic and 10th overall. Is this realistic....absolutely not but it is the only way I would even remotely ponder it. - willey101

My reply was more of a "what the frank are people here thinking?" Not specific to you.
I apologize for the confusion, and for any suffering that I have put you through as a result of my vague posting.

The Penguins need more Lucic....
How about a trade centered around Connor Sheary? - signed for 575, probably wouldn't work,
Carl Hagelin? -signed for 5m |

Pastrnak, Marchand and Kovalchuk sign and trade for Lucic, Pisani, and 2 plumbers who can't crack the roster. |

It's not a possibility - it's a probability.
They were a franking trainwreck this year, and they are about to lose their best defenceman and one of their top goal scorers.
.. and that was the on ice product. Forget all the Hoffman girlfriend business and you still have the worst owner since Harold Franking Ballard. |
