Not saying it will or won't happen, but plenty of people other than Eklund have speculated about the idea.

The Sens are going to be absolutely putrid next season. They're not going to get a single decent free agent, they'll be without Karlsson, and they'll have a team that's forced to play with Mike Hoffman that probably hates him. It's extremely likely that they are significantly worse than they were this year.

I agree with some other's in that Ottawa should give this pick to Colorado.

Colorado is sitting pretty. No matter what a big piece is coming. Lots of pro Karlsson to Colorado trade talk and I agree.

With MacKinnon hitting his stride Karlsson would be a huge addition.

Ottawa should get their pick back and fire sale the place. Lots of first round picks will help the inevitable sale I'm sure.

This season went as bad as it could go and that had a lot to do with stuff going on off the ice. It would be hard to have a worse season.

The Karlsson relationship is fixable because most people believe him when he says he loves playing in Ottawa. Even if they are forced to trade Karlsson, they'll be getting a monster return.

They'll probably have to buyout Hoffman, but they should get a decent replacement from the draft. If Ryan can somehow remember how to be at least a decent player, they could easily be a bubble team next year.
