That’s true look what happened to Tim Murray
- arousedpanda

Or stay as is, Ottawa tries but falls into the lottery next season and their pick wins the lottery. Kurvers for Niedermayer all over again.

Either way, Dorian is screwed. figure # 4 this year or hopefully at worst # 4 next year, with a shot at Hughes???? I would take that chance and then you would fire me LOL

With all of the ill will towards the Sens management, I don't think they can fiscally afford to just blow it up and make it a race to the bottom. No fans will show.

Trade Karlsson & Ryan to Edmonton for RNH, Lucic & #10 OA. Trade Hoffman for whatever you can get.

Lucic might not be what he was but he can still do something and is at least entertaining to watch. They will get two really good players with two top 10 picks, one or both should be able to contribute this year.

- MacPatty

Why don't people check their trade proposals out and realize that Lucic has a full no move and would never waive to go to Ottawa and it's rumoured his wife wants out of Canada??

Think people.

I hope nothing is true in that Lucic/Montreal rumour. The Miss is right. Imagine how people disliked (polite word) Lucic here in Montreal when he was a Bruins (and a much better player as well). So imagine again how he would be treated when the best crowd in the world finds out he cant skate anymore, cant score, cant follow and plays on the 4th line.... All that for how much... 6 millions $. Ouffff!

Hard enough time as is with the arena location for fans. If they don't show as they wont anyways, might as well build it up again, operate at the cap floor....by them Melnyk might sell

Niedermeyer was the #4 pick, so your analogy is weird.

But yeah - give away the pick this year. Next year is going to be terrible for the Sens.

Word is Lucic’s Wife wants out of Canada. She can’t handle the attention and wants a low key location. No way in hell he agrees to waive for Montreal.
- Iggysbff

I hope that’s true, it would help get us out from that contract

My reply was more of a "what the frank are people here thinking?" Not specific to you.

I apologize for the confusion, and for any suffering that I have put you through as a result of my vague posting.

actually, i think the scenario is bang on.

that trade should be known as lindros for kurvers. we were in last place until our gm started trading picks to Quebec for wily vets.

got us winning and the nordiques losing; ensured we got out of the cellar so our pick wasn't 1st.

hopefully the sens do the same thing with hughes.

Scott N was # 3 I think but was just using an example or trading a high pick and the results of it. Assuming it goes Dahlen/Svechnikov/Zadina.....they should move 4 and move on.

Years of pain but the right thing to do. At least they have a decent pool of prospects on paper - Brown/Gustaffson/White/Chabot - feel bad for Stone - he is a RFA and probably thinking, get me the heck out of there, maybe Ceci as well.

Karlsson in Edmonton would be a disaster. The d right now has one job. Get the puck to McDavid and let him do his thing. If Karlsson is there he’d also want the puck all the time. I personally don’t see a fit.
- Iggysbff

Also if it doesn't turn out to be a good trade, EDM is done for another 8 years. I think they have enough D but they don't have enough offence. Just McDavid, Leon and RNH.

At least Lindros was able to play in the blue and white for a short time - was fun watching him but too bad it was past his prime

The Duchene trade was awful and that’s what put Ottawa in this position. Now they have a situation that is so toxic they will likely lose both Hoffman and Karlsson by the end of next season. On top of that they have an owner that trades for aging players with lower salaries than cap hits. Putting your hope in lottery balls is a fools errand. You can wish in one hand and sh!t in the other and tell me which ones fills up first. Bad asset management is why the Sens are in this predicament. I feel they are in a lose lose situation no matter which pick they keep (18 v 19 first rounder). The owner is the biggest problem but they usually don’t fire themselves, they fire the employees as scapegoats.

Yes just like everything else you post. You'll say a bunch of crap and try to post backup then "change your mind" a year later when you realize how (frank)ing wrong you were.
- Iggysbff

Except that ain't the case. Quit changing the subject too. Deflecting and going straight to name calling as well. Sounds like someone knows they lost an argument. If you clearly can't see how LD, McD, & Karlsson can drive their own configurations, I really can't help you there.

I agree with what you are saying but have to try and have a plan. Karlsson/Hoffer is what it is now. Est Final was a mirage - same as the collapse Toronto had with Kessel versus Boston a while back - not good enough - made the decision and now have Nylander/Marner/Mathews to show for it. At least Ott has pieces Toronto never had.

If they expect to fall next season, might as well bet on that. Don't see much competition for the bottom - Arizona has to start making a move up, Montreal will be competitive with a healthly Price and Weber, Buff should be better. Lane is wide open for them to have a decent shot at Hughes.

This is correct.

The "resistance" to Melnyk is in full force. There is no front office engaged in the promotion and sale of season and other tickets. Season ticket buyers are saying no to Melnyk...not to the Sens.

There are two firm offers from local interests to buy the team.

All the other stuff is fluff. Nothing really changes until Melnyk goes.

People need to understand that Melnyk has used the Sens as his own personal piggy bank. He bought the team for $96m. It is now valued in the range of $500m. But, rumour has it that he has refinanced the team on several occasions drawing hard cash against the value of the team. I am guessing he has already scooped more than $400m out of the equity base.

Nothing really changes until the ownership structure is changed.

Yes They have a tough road ahead and probably the inside track to last in the league, as a Sabres fan I’m grateful we won the lotto but can’t put faith in it. I’d also try to compare top prospects of this year and next. Do you think you will get a better prospect at 4 this year or next and make your decision on that but that’s a tough gamble as well

Take the #4 pick this year and move on. A lot can change in a year. I think it's only a short time until Melnyk is gone if the rumours are true.

If Ottawa moves Karlsson (e.g. Islanders) and if they get the Islanders two 1st round picks (11th and 12th) it would give Ottawa 4 first round picks. In that case I would see them surrendering the 4th pick (2018) to Colorado.

I see the Islanders putting a huge push on Karlsson as part of their trying to get to the next level with Tavares.
