RNH + Klefboom + good prospect + draft pick, at least. There will be a bidding war for a signed Karlsson, so it will be a very high price - if he goes and OTT plays it right.

Lucic to USA, sure. I buy that...I could see ARZ kick the tires, maybe for Domi?

Karlsson in Edmonton would be a disaster. The d right now has one job. Get the puck to McDavid and let him do his thing. If Karlsson is there he’d also want the puck all the time. I personally don’t see a fit.

You don't think it might free up some space for McDavid? Having to worry about those two guys at the same time has to make space for someone...

It's not a possibility - it's a probability.

They were a franking trainwreck this year, and they are about to lose their best defenceman and one of their top goal scorers.

Regardless... GM's in the NHL DO NOT think like this. No matter how bad they suck, there is no guarantee they will get #1. If they are losing so many great players, it is time to get new young players now. Not wait a year and hope you get the #1 pick. I know it makes for cool chat on Hockey Buzz but the real world doesn't work this way.

Besides rumors are rumors... no guarantee Karlson or Hoffman are gone anyway. Just rumors that 90% of the time never come to fruition.

"Montreal" hasn't shown interest in Lucic--a reporter speculating about how to use cap space to get a good player/prospect out of Edmonton suggested the Habs could take on Lucic's contract, give him one year to rebound, and if he doesn't, buy him out. That would also include Edmonton giving their number 10 pick with Lucic in exchange for...well I can't recall.

I wouldn't do it if I were Montreal (or Edmonton--gotta be a better way to get rid of Lucic). But that's "Montreal's" interest in Lucic.

I assume this is all dependent on a sign and trade?

I heard Karlsson to Edmonton back in January. NuHop was mentioned but the name that was more likely was Draisaitl. McDavid comes on at $12.5 this year and Draisaitl is at $8.5. Adding Karlsson at a likely $11m is starting to get very steep.

Watch for the Islanders to try and push a comparable package.

Karlsson for RNH+10 OV? Don't think that's enough value though for the Sens.

Either way, RNH+ makes reasonable sense (but that does weaken our possible wing depth), but that + ain't gonna cheap.

I'd rather try to make a bigger deal for us in this case. Upgrade at the wing and on the defense at at once.

Karlsson + Stone for RNH+10OV+Klefbom? Yay or nay? We might need to add more value. Perhaps a 2019 1st?

Considering that the chances of the Sens imploding and starting from scratch are very real, the Sens might try to get a few young pieces to build around and some high picks.

Wait... let me get this straight. Give up the #4 pick this year for a possibility of sucking so bad that you might be #1 at seasons end... then hope the balls fall your way in the draft lottery. Any GM that follows this logic should be fired.

Free up space for McDavid? Have you ever watched a single oilers game? He has all the space he needs and no I don't think adding Karlsson would help. It would be a disaster team wise and cap wise. So Chia will probably do it.

RNH is very mediocre, Bozak has outscored him over the past 3 seasons.

I disagree.
You could just put them on different lineups.
McD/F/F/D/D, LD/F/F/D/D, and F/F/F/Karlsson/D. You can fill in the gaps from there on out with complimentary pieces. Either way, if anything it bolsters the Oiler's lineup by a lot. Doesn't make it just dependent on McD and LD.

Only choice - Give up # 4 to Colorado this year (still have # 22, not much but it is something) - Tank Nation next year and hope the ping pong balls fall in their favor.

Ship out Hoffer ASAP - pennies on the dollar yes - but I think they can still net a first or a later pick and a prospect.

Once Hoffer is gone, take a stab at convincing Karlsson to stay, but probably not. Move him for another first in 2018 to soften the blow of the # 4 going to Colorado - another first in 2019 (stockpile picks), and a high end prospect or two.
Trade candidates that might pay the price and have the assets. Rangers, Islanders

Tear it down and build it back up.

One is good defensively and another one is praised to be good defensively but is painfully average.

RNH>Bozak but it's close.

RNH is criminally underrated defensively by many.

With all of the ill will towards the Sens management, I don't think they can fiscally afford to just blow it up and make it a race to the bottom. No fans will show.

Trade Karlsson & Ryan to Edmonton for RNH, Lucic & #10 OA. Trade Hoffman for whatever you can get.

Lucic might not be what he was but he can still do something and is at least entertaining to watch. They will get two really good players with two top 10 picks, one or both should be able to contribute this year.
