If it was me, I would pass on Carlson and consider signing Mike Green to half of what Carlson will get as the PP guy. I bet Green would resign for like 4 per over two years. You can buy out Orpik if you want, or maybe get a pick for him.
I would resign Wilson for sure, despite all the negatives, that first line really took off once he joined it full time.
I would explore moving Grubrauer for sure. Maybe you can package him + Burakovsky to Edmonton in exchange for Kleffbom/Nurse. The thinking is that Edmonton wants to get faster on the wings (and didn't Burakovsky play with McDavid in Erie?) and could also use some cost certainty moving forward in net (as well as a capable second option). Kleffbom/Nurse + Green would replace Carlson nicely.
If you can't do something like that you look at NJ or Long Island.
What's clear is that Washington can't afford to bungle their asset management again this offseason. Winning the cup takes most/all of the pressure off, but if they are smart they can roll back next year and give it another shot.
IF you can get a ton for Wilson I could get behind that. I'd only resign Carlson if he comes in at under 7.5. Otherwise I'd prefer to go short term on a combination of Green and De Haan, etc.
That was arguably the best any team did at the deadline, except for maybe Stastny. Kempny was a very fortunate pickup. - Aetherial
I disagree. The Rangers may have been on the opposite side of the table from those who you conventionally discuss which team did best, but they made just about every deal you could want to see a bottom team make. And they made out just about as well as you could hope in each deal.
Exciting times for a non-playoff team!! Who woulda thought???

I’d take Orpik and the 31st overall pick for future considerations on the Habs any day. Let’s be real, the Habs need to rebuild and they’re not going anywhere next year, so taking a year of Orpik is worth an extra first rounder (albeit the last 1st rounder). - Gray75
Caps will never do that, buying out Orpik is not that bad
Hey little Jimmy Tan Tan, your stomach ulcer must be BURNING from watching Trump own your sissy leader Trudeau! Too bad your economy will remain in the toilet as long as Justine is in office.

Hey Douchebag777,
Maybe you should just be concerned with your economy. It's not like you're enjoying a real boom down there. And don't be surprised when the rest of the world just tells your pathetic, little, crying toddler of a leader to go (frank) himself, because we can all get along just fine without the USA.
This is going to be painful for everyone when prices are shooting up and jobs are being lost across the board in BOTH countries. And, completely avoidable. Except that a vocal minority in your nation elected Hitler Jr.
