Go to No Frills. Buy a can of Unico San Marzano tomatoes.
Heat up some olive oil, toss in a clove of garlic, cook it until you can smell the garlic. Remove the garlic.
Add in some chili flakes (pinch), squash in your tomatoes by hand, add a bit of water to the can to slosh around and get it all out, add that to your garlic and chili flake infused oil, add salt and pepper, cook for 20 minutes on a medium-low simmer.
Cook some good durum semolina (i.e. made in Italy) spaghetti, el dente (bit of bite to the noodle still), toss them in the sauce, cook for a couple of minutes, add torn fresh basil leaves, toss, grate some Parmesan Reggiano on top... - gravyface
You forgot to add the bomba Calabrese. |

P.S. I actually don't like most deserts or sweets. I'd rather eat a piece of fruit instead of a doughnut, some chips instead of pie. Shrug. I know, I'm weird. I do like ice cream though. - Thecakeisalie
I do love fruit, but I also like fruit pie. |

Good call. I would leave the garlic in and add basil leaves into the sauce, and simmer for longer, but this would be good. Scratch tomato sauce is like sex, you can do it a little different every time but the end result will be good. Throw in a little wine, onions, celery, whatever...finely grated carrot can add, parsley, etc...love making pasta sauce...making the pasta yourself is amazing too but a lot of extra work, for special times... |

I heard from a friend who knows from a barber that Tavares won't sign in Toronto. Does that hold up in court?
I'm not saying anybody is lying or making anything up but I haven't heard Bob McKenzie (just for example) say this either. So basically what I'm saying is hearsay is fun but we haven't actually seen very much evidence yet. - Unholy_Goalie

But where though. That's the question. I haven't seen anybody cite that line specifically and today's the first I've ever heard of the trade deadline having anything to do with signing an 8 year deal. You'd think on TDL day, one of the experts would have said "If any team wants to sign Tavares to an 8 year deal, they need to acquire him today or else they can't". Because I didn't hear anybody say that, did you? - Unholy_Goalie
for frank's sake.
you literally want to argue anything.
own player = player under contract.
8 years can only be offered to players still under contract, and condition is that the player was under contract with the team before closure of most recent trade deadline.
regarding the 'common sense': islanders could have dealt jt at tdl and get a 1st, roster player and good prospect for him. they have timeframe of 1 year to offer an extension.
teams don't literally 'own' players - they own rights to first contract offering (and for rfa's quite a bit more).
current cba is set up for players to be able to join a good team for a few cup runs, before they are 32/33y old which normally are the (start of) the last few years of their nhl career.

by the way - i don't think the leafs will end up signing tavares because of the max offer they will make him will be 7y at 9.5mln.
that's a fair contract for tavares.
he could make 12mln/year in other cities (not going into taxes here) but that could be compensated by endorsement money easily.
big part of tavares' decision will boil down to one question: where does he think he'll have best chances of winning a stanley cup.
looking at that - pittsburgh, nashville and toronto make the most sense. if he's not convinced by offer of any of those teams (feel free to add a 4th and 5th team) - he'll resign with nyi before 1st of july to get a 8y deal. nyi probably gives him a 8 x 10.5mln deal.
tavares has 3-5 days to talk with teams to discuss contracts, so it's either 30th of June with NYI or 1st / 2nd July with another team. |

Maximum contract length of seven (7) years subject to Club’s ability to re-sign its own Player for a
term of up to eight (8) years (provided the Player was on the Club’s Reserve List as of the most
recent Trade Deadline). With respect to potential Unrestricted Free Agents only, the option to re-
sign a Player for an 8-year term expires with the opening of Free Agency on July 1. |

Somehow plugging in The Goat in that mix doesn't do it for me. However I think the right move is not Tavares, but seeing if Doughty will be available next year. Now that would be a difference maker to have a true number 1 d-man - Rang
I love Doughty - that next contract of his is going to be a mighty one though
I believe when the contract expires he'd be 37 if he leaves the Kings or 38 if he stays. I wonder how he'll play towards the last 3 maybe even 4 years of that contract. |

We can't wait to see 'if' Drew is available. If a player like Johnny T is available, you go hard. And by hard... you know what I mean
