Did you watch Tanev play?
- Atomic Wedgie

I did watch Reilly play

I saw him get slaughtered by Boston's first line in every facet of the game.
Worst shot differential I have ever seen, and on the ice for countless goals.

And Tanev would have been better?

Interesting.

So many players with injuries every season. A few freak injuries but still. Back and wrists seem to be the most common. A few shoulders. Players aren't staying healthy. Maybe time to find a different trainer and a few staff members.

- manvanfan

Didn’t they just replace the entire staff last season for exactly this reason? Mike Bernstein had been with the Canucks for 20 years!

Well Alf, much like your career, in reality that scenario doesn't and shouldn't exist.

You mean you don't already have one, the (frank) you waiting for Sittler to come out of retirement? 3 playoffs in a row?
- neem55

Is this an actual rumour?

Because I would totally love it.

- Atomic Wedgie

Yes. He's got some of the best defensive metrics in the league in terms of shot suppression and zone exits. At least know something about the player if you're going to troll.

For sure. We only have 2 NHL level dmen, I'm going to notice when one is on the ice.
- neem55

What did you do for the other 40 games last year?

Lost. Bit of a correlation. Again, if you're going to troll at least know something.

And yet Canucks fans keep putting him out at the end of your driveway every Sunday at your garage sale, begging other teams to take him.

Weird.

Morgan Rielly against boston game 1
CF% = 9%
29 shot attempts against
3 shots for

How the F is that even possible?? Was the idiot shooting on his own net.

Your just not that bright hey? There's 23 players on a team Canucks have maybe 8-10 that are NHL quality and 2 backup goalies. those 8-10 are still NHL quality, even if it's a bad team. I shouldn't have to explain this to you, you should be very familiar given the last 15 years of Leaves history.

His point is, if he's so good and worth so much, why not just keep him considering #1 Dmen are difficult to find.

This is what I don't understand about you advanced stats Kool-aid chuggers:

+/- is a terrible stat, but shots attempted vs. shots for is a valid stat for evaluating a defenceman?

He's a #2. Were not going to be good for four years I would guess. He's 28. Might as well trade while he has value. Edler should have been traded years ago, value has declined. Trading one or the other would be a big step in actually committing to a rebuild.

No Gardiner gets salughtered by every line 1st line, 2nd line, 3rd line, 4th line.

And dont even get me started on Zaitsev who is a #8 d-man paid like a 2nd pairing one.

Yes it is. Especially for a dman. What I like about corsi and fenwick is that it takes total shots generated on the ice, not a person's total. Otherwise I agree it would be flawed, but you see they account for that. And reilly and Gardiner still had an awful 6 games there's just no getting around it.

The healthy scratches also feast on him in the morning skate.

But we all have crosses to bear...

P.S. Advanced stats guys love Gardiner. Like, take off your shirt and think deeply about him kinda love.

That is unheard of level of trash defense coverage
and he was like that the entire series against Bergeron

The destroyed him in every facet.
Bergeron's line gained the offensive zone damn near 100% of the time against Rielly.

I mean he could have done something.
