Seabrooks contract is worth more than the 8th overall imo.

$6.9 for 6 more years for a 33 year old

We can't afford more 'safe' picks in the first. Safe picks gets you hodgson, guance, virtanen, OJ. Instead of Karlsson, Elhers, Serg.

Who would ould you rather have? Another safe pick? Or a home run?
I really like wahlstrom, even tchunk for that matter, but we've got some decent wingers and even centers.... but where are the defenders? All things being equal were need a stud right handed D.

For sure. This BPA crap isn't filling our needs.

They also seem like can't miss top liners with the biggest ceilings in the draft.

have the Canucks had any player meetings with kotkiniemi?
I know they've met with boqvist, dobson, wahlstrom and hughes a few times and so i expect one of them to be picked. I don't get kotkniemis popularity, 0 points in the playoffs has me sceptical. BPA

It appears he is getting overrated due to the fact he is a center and younger for the draft. Not sure I see the same upside as everyone else

Boeser and EP where swings for the fence, bo was a safe pick who exceeded his ceiling.

Bo was drafted for his OHL Playoffs and Memorial Cup.

Guy won OHL Playoff MVP and he matched up as 17 year old against 19 year Mark Sciefelle and won.

Plus he led his team in memorial Cup scoring that year as well.

A good playoffs and memorial cup just moves you up that draft board.

But yeah he could be called a safe pick.

I dont know much about him but he's intriguing to me because he's younger, a little more raw, and he's already 6'-2" 190lbs. Thats a good size C and from the few highlights I've seen has some skills to go with it, so he has me curious

Yes I’d tend to agree I just don’t place as much value on a players age as some.

I thnk the comparison would be Anze Kopitar.

0 pts in the playoffs as a rookie in the top Finish mens league has almost no value to me, he'll be fine.....

At this point I would be happy with anyone, I'm just happy it will end the useless speculation.

I think the big thing with it is that physically they are still growing, so if the physical skills are there it's a bonus. He came into the combine almost 6', 165 and loaded with skill/IQ/ NHL shot (at 18 that's impressive). Because he's so young, he's a few years away.

Unless there's clear-cut front runners like McDavid or this Dahlin kid, BPA is just a personal subjective 'I like this guy better than that guy list'.

According to most rankings Horvat was a reach at #9 in 2013. Shinkaruk was ranked higher on almost every list.

Boeser was a late first rounder, not at all a reach and easily could be considered BPA in that spot. Was a late first rounder on everyones draft board.

When making a mock draft I tend to go with who I think said teams will pick in their spot.

Yeah he was ranked 25-30 on most lists, never saw him higher than that, he went where he was supposed to.

I don't know if its just because he's Finnish, but I saw a comparison made about him to Barkov. Barkov and Kopitar are fairly similar and would be very happy to have someone like that in the system

Barkov is so good, he's not flashy, doesn't have a great first step or break away speed but man is he smart and he's got great hands when the pucks on his stick.

Don't get me wrong, he was drafted where he should be. But due to his 2 way play, he was a safe pick

He was ranked 14th to 23rd on lists, a reach because of good playoffs at #9.

Right now I’m speculating Montreal goes off the board for Bouchard/Veleno.
Ottawa does not change their pick to Zadina and stays with Boqvist.
Arizona can’t pass up Zadina.
Redwings pull the trigger on Kotkaniemi.
If depending on who is available we either keep our pick or move down or trade it away.

Lots of good options for us this year. That’s why I like the speculation.
