Say no to heavily concussed runts

Just because he's dyslexic doesn't mean it's ok to pick on him....

Then we should try for more, but that is the cap we should take, gives us a top 10 pick and allows us to trade Tanev. Sure we become worse, but that really gives us a better future.
- Retinalz

I agree that a move like this should be done. But for a contract that long it better be something really substantial.

I have always said Sven is a third line guy. same as Sutter.

IMO Bo Brock EP Dahlen are Top 6 guys . I hope Canucks draft a forward and then one more top 6 guy needs to be brought in. in the next year or two.

- VANTEL

If our 3rd line is sven sutter and granlund or jv im happy

I think he's a good skater, puck handler, and I like his hockey sense in the offensive zone. He'll be a work in progress on the defensive side, but with a good stay-at-home partner and proper development could mitigate his deficiencies. The Canucks have not really ever had a true offensive defenseman and IMO he has the tools to be a good one.

It's a bit of a need/niche pick, but as I dont see an obvious "can't miss" top pairing guy on the board where they are picking, I would have him as an option if some others have not fallen

- WhiteLie

this is why I am leaning towards Wahlstrom. Pretty much a guaranteed top 6 stud winger with wheels and a shot. Draft D in the 2nd and 3rd round. We can't afford a bust at 7 and the only guy that appears safe is Dobson.

Smartest thing Canucks could do is draft their center Kotkaniemi
- VANTEL

He is being over looked and he arguably is the best centre in the draft. I would be happy more than happy with him at 7.

I actually like Boqvist. I think he's the swing-for-the-fences type pick that the team really needs long term. I just like Wahlstrom and Hughes a bit more, and Kotkaniemi is sounding more intriguing to me
- WhiteLie

I like all those players almost equally, kot a little less.
I'll take the rhd over the winger or LHD, all gonna bring equal.

8oa is pretty big, and that would give us the ability to trade tanev for another first, and either have 7/8/say 19(idk where tor is drafting) but if we traded 7oa for Hanifin it would be fine because we still have 8oa.

What do you like about him? His glass jaw? His poor hockey sense? His complete disregard for actually playing defense? The guy plays the game as a rover and won't translate to the pros. Just look at his results in the SHL. Non-existent.

I like the trade for Seabrook idea, if Van got 7th and 8th though I would wait and see if Hughes is still there at 7, id take him over Hanifin anyday. Walking out of that draft with Hughes and Wahlstom or Dobson would be a huge win for the future.

Agreed, Wahlstrom is the guy I would hope is still there and I see depth at defense available in the other rounds. If they do take a Dobson/Bouchard, I wont hate it, I just feel like taking a risk since my job isn't on the line

At this point I would be happy with anyone, I'm just happy it will end the useless speculation.

We can't afford more 'safe' picks in the first. Safe picks gets you hodgson, guance, virtanen, OJ. Instead of Karlsson, Elhers, Serg.

Who would ould you rather have? Another safe pick? Or a home run?
I really like wahlstrom, even tchunk for that matter, but we've got some decent wingers and even centers.... but where are the defenders? All things being equal were need a stud right handed D.

I don't care always go BPA. Forcing a D is how you end up with plugs like Juolevi. Wahlstrom is a safe pick and also has an extremely high ceiling. They aren't mutually exclusive.

I'd like to try to snag an extra pick for 2019 in a trade with CHI. 2nd or 3rd.

Then trade Tanev to TOR for a 1st + for sure.

And with the 7th pick in the 2018 NHL draft, the Vancouver Canucks are pleased to select, from BAIE-COMEAU of the QMJHL, GABRIEL FORTIER!

Would a 5 foot 10 inch left winger sate your desire for calm?

Did you try trade the 7th pick, in the mock draft, or was it bpa?
- Reubenkincade

I tried to trade back but no takers so I made the pick. I was trying to get a late 1st or early second and move back to draft Konkatniemi.

My take is trading 7th OA is just talk. Drumming up fan interest in mainstream media (Province/1040).

The team needs to use its cap space to aquire picks, we can see that, lets hope they can.

Yes i would be. And if you could trade a Sven for a high second, walking with KA Miller and J Wise would be nice. It all comes down to using cap space as leverage.

Dahlin and Svech seem like pretty safe picks. Total hacks those two.
