I find it amazing to see some reporters say possible destination for Tavares or Karlsson to Montreal and then ask why would they want to come to Vancouver
Sven probably has the best trade value of all the third liners aside from Sutter - VANTEL
If you get rid of a bunch of those players they need to be replaced by someone. I don't know that you're going to find many better options out there as most of our guys aren't old and most of them could still get better. No sense shipping off youth and bringing in older guys like Maroon. Then we end up back in the situation we were 2 years ago, a non-competitive team that is also old.

I don't know if I want to get into a debate about hanging my hat on guys like Leipsic Motte Dowd Granlund Boucher Goldobin Sven Gaunce. Life is too short.
If you feel they are NHL worthy then who am I to say no?

said it the other day that i think montreal thinks they were victims of a bad/off year. carey price should be much better and that will help but they are have zero depth after their highend guys

There's a pretty broad range of ability in that group. I was talking about Baertschi, Granlund, and Goldobin. The guys who are capable of playing in the NHL. You're twisting my argument by bringing up guys who aren't even playing in the NHL and have 0 trade value.

Athletic's latest mock draft top 10:
1 BUF Dahlin
2 CAR Svech
3 MTL Zadina
4 OTT Bouchard
5 ARZ Tkachuck
6 DET Hughes
7 VAN Boqvist
8 CHI Wahlstrom
9 NYR Kotkaniemi
10 EDM Dobson
Personally, I dont see the 4 & 5 picks going that way, but if they did, I cant see VAN passing on the two guys listed at 8 & 9. To me I think Boqvist is only an option if Wahlstrom and Hughes are gone and a toss up if Kotkaniemi is there

Plus I cant see Benning drafting a player who said himself he is 2-3 years away.
The thing that bothers me lately is the fact that guys that have very little or no value will be back on our team again next year. Benning has a blank canvas and should be selling off guys like Sven Hutton and more. If no one else wants them then say adios and find new players. - VANTEL
If I were Benning I would first try and get 8oa for taking on Seabrooks contract, then trade Tanev for a 1st +. After that use the 7oa to get Hanifin. See being gm is easy

I actually like Boqvist. I think he's the swing-for-the-fences type pick that the team really needs long term. I just like Wahlstrom and Hughes a bit more, and Kotkaniemi is sounding more intriguing to me

Seabrooks contract is worth more than the 8th overall imo.

What do you like about him? His glass jaw? His poor hockey sense? His complete disregard for actually playing defense? The guy plays the game as a rover and won't translate to the pros. Just look at his results in the SHL. Non-existent.

The hate is so strong. No need to get so worked up man

$6.9 for 6 more years for a 33 year old - classic321
Then we should try for more, but that is the cap we should take, gives us a top 10 pick and allows us to trade Tanev. Sure we become worse, but that really gives us a better future.

I think he's a good skater, puck handler, and I like his hockey sense in the offensive zone. He'll be a work in progress on the defensive side, but with a good stay-at-home partner and proper development could mitigate his deficiencies. The Canucks have not really ever had a true offensive defenseman and IMO he has the tools to be a good one.
It's a bit of a need/niche pick, but as I dont see an obvious "can't miss" top pairing guy on the board where they are picking, I would have him as an option if some others have not fallen
