Grabs at 3mill per...NO

Grabs at 1-1.5 mill (like the past two years) ...Yes His speed and PK play alone is worth that.

Yes that is a fair amount for what he brings to a team. I feel the Grabner we saw in Toronto was his true skillset. I would rather see one of the young forwards make the team than resign him regardless.

Oh Tanner..... JT is slow, ill give you that. But the kid is phenomenal. He has a Joe Thorton-like ability to control the play and makes everyone around him better. Just look at the pay days he got for his boys (Moulson, Okposo, Nielson, etc). The kid is a gamer. Cordell, absolutely right about Grabner. He was useless 5v5. Dangerous on the PK, but is not effective in any 5v5 system. As for bozak, I think he is decent pickup for anyone looking for a 3/4 Centreman. He is great on the draws and solid defensively.

Jesus H Christ....bloated contract?

Lets face it,every 10 points is a million bucks for forwards, that’s just how it goes. Through in an extra million for consistency and you’re laughing. James is sorta retarded 90% of the time.

Grabner is neither on the wrong or right side of 30. He’s 30! If anyone’s seen his off season Instagram videos know he’s a physical freak, so his age shouldn’t be a concern... especially since he probably will only get another deal similar to his last. I can see him taking less to return to Rangers. He seemed to genuinely like playing for them. Having him as a 3rd or 4th liner and pk guy for 1-2 years won’t hurt young guys development. Still better than Hags with a 4mil cap hit
John Carlson would be a guy I’d stay away from, unless it’s like Shattenkirk 4 year deal. No way he gets 8 mil for 7-8 years

contract is buyout proof

his base salary is only 1 milion a year

I think Hags is the better all around player...but no doubt Grabner at anything 2.5 or under is a better deal. Although, maybe I should restate that....I feel like Hags game can fit well on any team because of how disruptive he is all over the ice. Where as, I feel Grabner can be an amazing fit for certain teams, but, as seen in the past, doesn't fit all systems.

Totally agree. Rangers got him at a good price coming off 9 goal season in Toronto. He was a good fit in Vigneaults system, but a total fail when he went to NJ. Not sure how he’d do with new coach in NY. Maybe Isles hire AV and Grabner goes back there. Idk, but I don’t see him costing much either way

Hags and Grabs are the same player. Big difference is that Hags plays on a line w/ one if not two top notch players. Both played for NYR and even though Grabs scored more I don't see much of a difference. Shooting % is inflated due to some puck luck/empty netters for Grabs. Both are worth between 1-2.5 mill$$. Even though I missed Hags before Grabs came along, I was totally against him getting the 4mill contract that he did. Just wish NYR got back a bit more than Etem

This makes it, hands down, the worst contract in the league.
