I just have this feeling we will see another draft day trade like last year. Lots of teams with limited cap space looking for goal scoring. I think Hextall again gets a deal he can't turn down for Simmonds.

It's a very possible scenario and I can Edmonton being that team. Perhaps something like Simmonds and the 50th overall pick to Edmonton for the 10th pick and 40th pick in this years draft and a conditional pick in 2019. It would be a 2nd round pick unless Edmonton makes the playoffs and advances to the final four, it would then become a 1st.

I could see Chia making an offer like that, and if I'm Hextall, I'm taking it.
Having 3 picks in the first round, all between 10-19, gives the Flyers a lot of options.

I like that move. Because then i call Calgary and ask how bad do you want to get into the 1st round. 19 for Bennett? You get your 3rd line center. Take Noah Dobson at 10 unless someone surprisingly drops.

Pretty much the same way I'm thinking. You could use pick 19 to get your 3C in a deal and still land 2 very good prospects with 10 and 14. Or, if a guy you love is still on the board at 6, you could offer 10 and 14 to Detroit for 6 and 30.

Having 3 firsts just opens up a lot of doors and gives the Flyers some more options.

Especially for a team like the Flyers that are already boasting a solid pipeline. Allows you to play around a little.

I'm very concerned about moving forward with giving Simmonds a new deal. I'd be looking to move him either at the upcoming draft or during the upcoming season. Unless he's willing to take a deal that runs no more than 3 years, I'd stay away from re-signing him. It's not the money that concerns me when you talk about re-signing Simmonds, it's the term. I'd offer 3 years, 21 million and if he's not willing to commit to that or something similar, then trade him.

I agree but I would be ok with 4 years. Maybe 4 @ 6.250

Yeah, maybe, but I'd still rather have a higher aav and the 3 year term. Not only will he be 34 by the 4th year, but with big and/or skilled wings like Allison, Ratcliffe, and others already in the pipeline and probably a couple more to come in the next draft or 2, there may not even be a roster spot for Simmonds by 21-22 which would be the 3rd year of the deal. I just think it's bad business extending a guy like Simmonds, who for all the intangibles he brings is still pretty much an average ES player and a guy who takes a lot of punishment on his slender frame, for more than 3 years max.

I was listening to BSH Radio and they made an interesting point. TSN released a 30 player trade bait list but Simmonds was completley left off the list. But you’d think he’d be on it, and pretty high on it. Go back to last season, Schenn was on the list when no one really expected him to be traded. Perhaps they read too much into it buts it’s interesting. I personally hope we trade Simmonds.

I want Simmonds to stay. We're a weaker team without him. I don't think he'll end up with much more than 5 million if he resigns. Im more worried about term than anything. I wouldn't go any further than 5 seasons.

I think Morin fills the enforcer role and will do it better than Simmonds moving forward...If you get the haul that BiggE laid out you have to pull the trigger...I love everything simmer has given this team, but from a getting better stand point long term you have to make that deal...
