He was ranked above Kotkaniemi most of the season and I doubt he makes it to 34.....also isn't our pick 37?
- belcherbd

His number was #34 in the WJ games 😊
Since they don't have names on the back.

He was ranked higher but Kotkaniemi had more points but considering I saw Kotkaniemi in a top 6 and played wing in Liiga vs Kupari who I often saw him listed in the bottom 6 center position.

.51 ppg for Kotkaniemi
.36 ppg for Kupari

I have written in the book that I think Kupari will be better then Kotkaniemi.

I don't know why but I get the sense Montreal is going to surprise with their pick as they're going to draft for position not necessarily BPA. Tkachuk or Dobson 3rd overall?

If they don't want Zadina why wouldn't they trade down a spot or 2?

I would but they might want their guy at three like Columbus did, we'll see.

Could be but I would think it's a pretty safe bet moving down 1 spot that Ottawa would take Zadina. If they don't, hey you pick up an extra asset and Zadina can always be traded for whatever your greater need is.

This is of course assuming MB isn't a moron, which he is.

Never assume that.....

Montreal is going to take the BFPA
best French player available.

Remember when the conversation was " Vegas doesn't have a 1C (which they do by the way) or a 1D and they are going to win"

Well they didn't. The team with a clear 1C and 1D did

Vegas' 'system' served for three rounds until eventually the depth on the Caps were able to adapt and figure it out. Much in the way they were able to take out Crosby and Stamkos. Props to Trotz too for adapting that defense on the fly.

We Canuck fans know all too well that not having a Norris trophy quality D in the PO's can eventually do to a team.

They rode a hot goalie. Period.

I truly believe Hamhuis getting injured was the reason we lost. not a 1C but certainly our best at the time.

Juolevi hurt his back training. Maybe giving Hutton another chance isnt a bad idea to give Juolevi time in Utica

Pretty sure he was headed to Utica anyway. I expect Canucks to pickup at least one UFA dman, possibly two.

I jokingly said Vancouver trainers and staff were a problem for injuries. I'm honestly starting to believe that it.

Both would be worthy picks if we traded down. I truly think K'andre Miller would not be a reach anywhere from 15-30. He's going to be one of the better D in this draft.
Love #7 to philly idea for 14 and 19 if they were willing. I'd trade tanev for number 11 or 12 from NYI too. Take BPA. Both trade options would be sick.

Yeah it was pretty odd how Gudbranson AND Tanev were handled this year.

Also true. Teams just couldn't deal with that relentless Vegas attack and when Vegas scored first in most games they won. But I agree Fleury was in their heads a bit too.

Loing Hamhuis (Rome as well) literally killed us. Like you said Hammer was playing lights out defensively throughout the whole PO's that year and what a blow that was. Rome was the only real rough and tumble D that we had as Bieksa's toughness disappeared in the final plus Torres as well. I know they were told by AV to cool it but still no pushback whatsoever. It is what it is. the Lou choke didn't help us either.

Tkachuk only missed last years draft by one day, he's probably as ready as any kid out there to make the NHL out of the draft.

We're into the week before the week of the draft!

Today's blog looks at the rumblings that the Canucks' seventh pick is in play and what move could make some sense. Plus, thoughts on Ryan O'Reilly and Olli Juolevi.
