Tanner, I don't disagree that Carlson will get overpaid. But the question is by how much. I say if he is making 7.5M, but playing like a 6.5M D man, it's not too bad. When you hear all the trade rumors out there for players like OEL, Hamilton, Karlsson, your talking first rounders and prospects. Personally, I would slightly overpay and sign a ufa, vs giving up my 1st rd pick and a prospect or two. Those entry level contracts more than make up for for a slight overpayment. Now if Carlson signs a deal for 9.5M, totally different story.
