Mass shootings are impossible to stop, there isn’t just an easy answer to every problem. Life sucks sometimes.

All he wants to do is protect his house!!!!!

Yep
And he should be allowed to plant land mines to do so as well

And he should be allowed to have a tank, and a rocket launcher, etc
Bc if he’s not,

You really never heard of Mass shootings when I was growing up in the 70's-80's, mostly because we did not have I-phones, Internet, access to guns and above all else, if you really stepped out of line not only would you catch an a$s whooping from your parents, All the neighbor hood parents had the right to smack you upside the head if you were doing something stupid.

We (the US) doesn’t even try

And if what u say is true...
why is there more here than the rest of the world combined?

Are we the only country with mental health issues?

Come on man

SOMETHING has to be done

Can’t just shrug our shoulders and say,
“Can’t stop it, shouldn’t even do anything to try, because... ‘Merica!”

That’s just Bullsh!t
And i know you’re smarter & more reasonable than that

yes. no one is taking your guns that you have already bought away from you.

here in lies the problem.

Once someone mentions gun reform, the NRA comes flocking out of the woodwork to shove more money in politicians pockets to spread the "They are trying to take our guns away" rhetoric.

Like having too many exits and entrances in a school was the cause of the last shooting.

Also rocks falling into the ocean are the cause for rising sea levels.

Yeap Baby boomers sure sound smart when they say poop like that.

- ImThatGuy

one if the biggest issues in my opinion.. lobbyists.. if people could legislate for the good and forget about what lines their pocket it would make things much better. DC is all about money and that is all politicians are about..

Anthony Bourdain killed himself. Great.

Loved that show No Reservations.

- TheSabresTaco

Same, read that this morning and was kind of bummed, but not really all that surprised. He was a wiener, but he made a cool show and brought attention to a lot of places that, undeservedly, don't get it.

The biggest. It stopped being about what is best for the people, to what is best for me and my pockets.

The power has gone to a lot of peoples heads. Again you are going to see a massive uprooting next election, IMO.

- Reformed Background checks that consider serious mental disorders (a denial is appealable to a judge)
- Ex Parte seizures of weapons in the event a family member suspects mental instability or malicious intent; must have the right to a hearing within 3 days of the order
- Mandatory firearm safety course before purchase (waiveable with evidence of previous course attendance, police training, or military training)
- 1 Month Ban on the Press reporting the name of the shooter (effective at the time the shooter is apprehended by police)
- FREE mental health care

There. Nobody loses guns, we reduce the amount of psychos getting ahold of guns, the poop-ass media doesn't glorify the psycho, and the psychos get the help they desperately need rather than shooting up schools.

What truly laughable is everyone saying "YOU CANT TAKE MY GUNS AWAY" When nobody is really trying to do that at all.

More extensive background checks is all people are asking for.

its pretty simple, actually.

- ImThatGuy

Maybe you.
Certainly not everyone.
In fact, I hear far, far more commentary on outlawing all guns than just a statement about background checks.

I don't really have a side in this fight as I get why people want to keep their guns vs also people wanting stricter policy. If you look at the data from Australian gun buy back, which was a mandatory gun buy back, which is what people would be concerned with, they used different metrics to push an agenda. I would strongly urge people to not ever use graphs with "mass shootings" because they all very in number of people killed, to number of people injured. One gun used for the wrong thing on just one person is enough, but keep actual data in perspective. Just a thought.

Because the older generation doesn’t feel the same about their own ideas?
Come on

Today’s youth is thinking GLOBALLY and isn’t selfishly only caring about the “American way of life”
It’s been a brilliant trick that the 1% (and yes, that includes the gov’t on both sides of the aisle) has been able to convince the ppl they’ve been taking advantage of that we should keep the Status Quo, and not effect any real change, all because “ ‘Merica “

I think it’s fantastic that the youth of today actually gives a sh!t enough to question all the BS that’s gotten us to this point
And wants to actually make the world a better place

- jdfitz77

I too think it is FANTASTIC that the younger generation (what do they call kids in HS now?) are getting involved in politics and voicing their thoughts..it is beautiful to watch as that IS America!

Now, I disagree with much of their thoughts, but I whole-heartedly support their right, and their moxy to get involved.

Kinds reminds me of the early Baby Boomers, those who protested in the ‘60’s.
It took awhile, but brought about significant change in our society.

Which is just rhetoric coming from the NRA to inspire their members

IN REALITY...
nothing even remotely close to banning all guns has EVER actually been introduced as legislation

It’s not gonna happen
It’s all fear-mongering BS

No one is taking “all your guns away”
So just stop with the BS rhetoric

Guns for “protection” are different than weapons for “killing”

I don't get those people.

But on the other hand I also don't understand the necessity to own military grade weaponry.

There has been a registry for firearms before, confiscations of bump stocks and proposed bans on "assault style weapons" which include everything from the oh-so-dreadful AR-15 to my deer hunting rifle. To say that it's never going to happen or that it's the NRA pushing the narrative is simply false.

No the Left has lost it's mind in terms of guns. I won't give up a thing. I have no plans to hurt anyone other than those that wish to disarm me.

For example...

Gun ppl like to say the AR 15 is basically a hunting rifle

Well why can’t a hunting rifle be made that CAN NOT be modified into a weapon that discharges a crazy amount of rounds in just seconds

No one who hunts needs that ability

No one needs that to protect their homes

It’s not “the Purge”
There’s no zombie invasion coming

U want a gun that holds (idk, 6 bullets?) a small amount of rounds to protect u from someone breaking into your house?
Ok
Let’s just be reasonable about it

There is a line. Problem is even if you get 60% of the people to agree where the general line is, the 20% on either side will never stop fighting for a little more each way. And when the 30% on each side that were fine with the line feel that they are being pushed passed what was generally agreed to, they push back harder. It's human nature.

Is their data that correlates other weapons to mass-tragedies...such as pipebombs, automobile/trucks, other detonations, etc.?

So then I’m sure u have a solution to stop all these mass shootings

Obviously it’s not YOU who is the problem

But your argument is that we can’t keep these weapons out of criminals hands

Well then why is anything illegal?
Maybe ppl should be allowed to own a rocket launcher?
Obviously that’s an exaggeration
But hopefully u get my point

U don’t NEED to own a weapon designed or modified that can kill a large number of ppl in seconds
You just don’t
That isn’t your “right”

Something like 35,000-40,000 people die every year in the USA from car crashes. Where is the outrage?

To be fair, the reason there are so many guns in Switzerland is because all those people are in the army. The Swiss are kind of crazy, they're ready for war 24/7, all the bridges and tunnels into the country are rigged with explosives so that they can completely isolate the country from the ground.

It's not just the guns, it's the gun culture, it's mental health, it's ignoring red flags, even here in NY you don't need any training to buy an AR-15, but if you want to carry a concealed handgun you need to take a course, be fingerprinted and be interviewed by law enforcement. There's a disconnect. On that, I blame the massive amount of money. Despite new realities on the ground they want to keep the status quo ante, which clearly isn't working.

Edit: Finland has as many people as Toronto in a country bigger than the size of New Mexico.
