Why isnt anyone in calgary talking about phil kessel? Is it bc you dont have any draft picks? If the pens wind up moving him they need players who can play now. TJ Brodie and Sam Bennett can play now, and can play roles in that lineup. The pens are paying Kessel 6.8M of an 8.0M salary. It fills the most glaring weakness on this team and I don't think for a minute that they're cup contenders if they get Kessel (no depth) but at least they make the playoffs. I don't know if Bill Peters can get this group there without another 30G scorer. Then again, maybe Peters can and they win the Pacific next year, hockey is so unpredictable sometimes.

No one's talking about it because the Penguins aren't going to be trading him. And if they do trade him it's because someone makes them a ridiculous offer. He's coming off the best year of his career and has a fantastic contact when you consider what Pittsburgh is actually paying him.
