From his agents standpoint, listening to other teams is his way to find value. Once value is set, Brisson can see if the isles want that price. If not, he walks, and no bridges were burned.

This is pro sports, and JT is the consummate professional. I doubt hes the kind of guy to string a top league exec like Lou Lam along and then pull a bait and switch. I would bet dollars to donuts that Lou asked what it would take, and then two weeks later both GM and Coach are gone. Its happening.....i just think his agent is going to do whats best for his client and future clients by seeing what teams offer.

Just saying, with the actual evidence that we have in front of us in terms of "wanting to hear all offers," Tavares (obviously) indicating that the Isles are in the running is all that Lou needs to not trade his rights.

I agree that him walking at this point would be pretty shocking and, in my opinion, would rightfully vilify him somewhat.

3. Lou may be bringing a winning pedigree but he also brings a known structure that JT has never had to adhere to in his professional career
4. The fireing of people JT held very dear
5. Yes the extra year, I just don’t see that as, that big of a draw
6. Lou talked... nothing ever leaks out when it comes to Lou.


I hope he stays, I want him her for his career... there has just been so many “deadlines” that have come and gone, a lot of very vague comments by JT all season, he never committed in interviews to wanting to only be here. This is the life of an Islanders fan.. expect the f’in absolute worst and hope for better.

Hes not dumb and I think he sees changes being made at the highest levels and that can only be a good thing. If they land a good head coach and get a goalie at the draft it changes this teams fortune's dramatically. He wanted to turn this franchise around from day one and he seems like the kind of guy that would follow through on that.

The factor left off the list is JT's sense of loyalty. Supposedly, JT is a very loyal person. The big question, however, is loyalty to whom? Does he feel loyalty just to the Islanders and their fans? Or is his loyalty mostly felt toward the owner (Wang) and GM (Snow) who drafted him? Or to the then captain, who subsequently became his coach (Weight) who helped him adjust to the NHL?

If only we knew an Uber driver with some nuggets.....
