Sounds like Russell did pretty good in Bakersfield led the league in SHG. Might be 25, but only 2nd pro year. Quite the long shot, but seems like their could be a Ryan Jones potential in this guy.

They're certainly shoring up the AHL squad. Benson and Yamo were looking like they'd be largely alone up front when looking ahead last summer, but they've since added Marody, Vesel, Vesey and a couple others while retaining some key role players further down the roster (Russell and Lowe).

Hopefully this influx can foster a winning culture in our development system!

The AHL squad probably wouldn't have been bad last year, but then injuries took over and they lost any sort of talent they had.

Need to have guys that are pretty much going to play in the AHL the whole year. Guys that can keep the team stable once injuries happen to the big club,

Huh. Chiarelli isn’t wasting any time getting poop done.

Risto is the better defenseman outside of one year, two years ago when Klefbom got carried around defensively by a beastmode Larsson.

Klefbom at his best is better... But that has been so few and far between it really isnt as big a factor as some would have you believe.

Not a real fan of either player since both are fairly one dimensional and deficient in thier positioning and own zone. But moVing a leftie for a righty makes sense. As long as the deal is relatively a one for one deal its a deal most should be able to live with it.
