So OZone vs DefZone starts don’t matter?
Please
It’s obviously easier to score when you’re starting 20ft from the net instead of 200ft away

And you really don’t think ROR would score more if he played with guys like Wheeler & Connor, or Ehlers & Laine?
Come on man

These aren’t EXCUSES
They’re legitimate factors
You’re just ignoring them

- jdfitz77

I told you I haven't looked at it at all. I don't find the comparison that interesting.

If you think they are legitimate factors, then factor them in. You just think RoR is better and don't want to look any deeper. Worse, you want to criticize those who have.

Keeping this core together is the worst idea in the history of ideas
- sbroads24

assuming bogo cant be moved, they are stuck at d, and moving risto is the worst thing they can do for rd's on this roster

I think it's really addition by subtraction up front by bringing up the kids for kane, pouliot, etc

but the larssons and girgens need to go and if you keep ror, you need to get that one true leader in the locker room

does Kunitz on a 1 year deal put a big enough band aid on that gash?

you would be fine with him and wilson as your left wingers for the bottom 2 pair

It’s not the same “core” though
Dahlin
Mittelstadt

Pretty sure they meet your definition of core players, right?

Badly.

Some of it is Wilson, some is his speed. He's still a 55-65 (high end with better wingers) player. That $7.5 is gonna look better every year as the cap goes up tho.

Lol
Feel free to explain how i should “look deeper”

Any offensive stat is obviously gonna be affected by the factors i mentioned

If u wanna pretend they don’t exist,
well that’s on you

I’m not gonna ignore that he routinely plays with guys like Wilson, Girgs, Pouliot, etc
And playing all those heavy defensive situations is an obvious factor

He’s ranked high by Analytics guys
He’s voted most underrated by his peers
GMs, Coaches, Team Canada, and on & on & on
All appreciate him more & don’t blame him for what’s been happening here

So yeah,
I guess i side with the 99% instead of the bitter Buffalo fans that are looking for a scapegoat to blame

Our team has had A LOT of holes
O’Reilly isn’t the problem
Not even a little

You realize Jacksonville to Miami is farther than Buffalo to Washington D.C., right?
- Wetbandit1

It's not

Its pretty close though like 40 miles or so

Also 6 hours from Jacksonville to Miami driving

6:45 from Buffalo to DC by driving

Do linemates & zone starts make a difference in a player’s 5v5 production in your opinion?
I think it’s pretty obvious that they do

Let's temper our expectations. Only a couple of months ago, many on this board thought that Kane was going to bring back:

1st this year
young, promising NHLer
Top notch prospect

Instead we got:
1st (1 or 2 years from now)
Youngish AHL/NHL tweener who might make it to the 3rd line
4th round

- SabreWest

This is a totally different situation I don’t think the two are even comparable

I don't expect you to take an objective look. It's not your style. I expect the same straw man points, time after time.

I hope another GM values him as highly as you do. I really do.

I am not buying that

Crosby played with some clunkers and his production was constant

some love ror, some hate ror
I think he needs to be better, and really want him to be better on this team and this team take the next 5 steps

if he is on this team, he has zero excuses not to drive his line to better offensive production this fall

I had to look this up and found a handy "as the crow flies" calculator.

Assuming that thing isn't just making up its answers, Jacksonville to Miami actually is a longer distance as the crow flies (329 vs 292). But the driving distance from Buffalo to DC is longer than the driving distance from Jacksonville to Miami.

Also, it turns out DC and NYC are almost exactly the same distance (1 mile difference) from Buffalo as the crow flies.

So if we trade Risto and get Hanifin, are we a better team? (Of course minus all the things that have to happen to complete those deals)

I think no, but don’t watch Hanifin anywhere near as much as Risto.

Now how about O’Reilly out and Skinner in, are we better?

Again I think not, but I do think O’Reilly needs to go.

Straw man points my a$$

Is it easier to score 5v5 when u start in the Offensive zone instead of the defensive zone?
Yes or No

And is it reasonable to think a player would produce better when playing with Wilson & Reinhart... or Connor & Wheeler?

Both pretty obvious answers

But I’m sure you’ll avoid answering the questions so as to try & skew the discussion in a different direction

That’s your prerogative though i guess

It’s easy for you to make snarky comments

If someone explains to me how playing with Wilson & Reinhart equates to playing with Connor & Wheeler,
then I’d drop that point

But it’s pretty freaking obvious
