Ontario to this day has not fully recovered from the mess Bob Rae made of the province when he was Premier. There will be pain - hoping for a minority government that dies quickly. Ford makes Trump look trustworthy and honest.

Bob Rae was in power during a large financial and housing crisis. I'm not saying he was a Premier for all the ages, but the woes that Ontario faced in the 90s can't all be pegged on him.

Same scene in the USA, they have an even bigger population to draw from and came up with a pretty lousy group to chose from when Trump was elected. IMO (although this will bother Wedgie a great deal) the profession attracts many undesirables.

Also, I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that the NDP is controlled by American interests. This seems pretty antithetical.

Not sure, but the ndp party in Saskatchewan could be skewing that. They're historically tight fisted with the province's money and usually win.

Well, he keeps calling people "my friends" and pulls the old "Things will be 10x worse under the NDP." bullpoop without backing it up with any factual information.

What he doesn't have is a coherent platform, scruples or competence.

"The Brits" burning down the White (power) House is a false talking point Americans use. The British never really had an army in Canada at that time, they were busy fighting elsewhere. They never really sent any reinforcements either. The war was fought mostly around the issue land-grabbing form the natives in America (see tecumseh). The stupid ass Americans feeling bold from their dumb revolution thought it would be pretty cool of them to invade parts of Upper Canada. But Canadians, as they were called at the time, formed militias and fended off the American invasions, for the most part. At no point did "the British" give commands to any army to burn down the White House. It was dudes who were from Ontario who took names and kicked ass. Canada wasn't a country at the time, but they were still Canadians.

Spending went up during unemployment and recession.

Besides, my argument is that Rae is an outlier in terms of NDP governments across Canada that do a much better job of handling provincial finances than people give them credit for.

Dislike all the choices, but I think a Ford majority is the worst case scenerio. Best thing that could happen is a minority that dies quickly and hopefully better options emerge. Ford is a dangerous clown - besides being a low-life.
