If they aren't giving up the 7th or Boeser just go to the next team (frank) them
- gerbe75pts

I’d be ok with Horvat too
Just doesn’t seem like they’re willing to give up anything of real value

Seems like another team might be a better fit as possible trade partners

Aren't you a little worried that he's a probelm this would be his 3rd team

And let's not forget all of us including other fans said Boston was crazy to trade him now Calgary wants him gone

- gerbe75pts

Sure it's a thought, but I think Botts has a vision, and if he's good enough for him, he's good enough for me. GMs vet all these guys. They know all the little reasons why a guy is on the block. Boston has Torrey Krug and probably didn't want a duplicate defenseman to pay that much, so they got a bunch of prospects in return. Calgary wants depth scoring (something we should want) but I admit I am perplexed as to why they'd want to move Hamilton. I know they want picks too.

Let’s say they get O’Reilly for him
Hamilton scored 17 goals last year
Is the extra 7 from ROR really gonna make much difference?

Any reports as to how he defends in his own zone?
If he’s struggling in that respect,
then it makes sense they’d try to move him

Or if the being weird thing is having some kind of affect in the locker room

- jdfitz77

I like the Hamilton idea. I'm not sure what to make of the media reports. Boston started bashing him the second he left the organization. Is that spin, or is it reality? No idea.

ROR for Hamilton seems like the starting point for a good trade though

Dahlin-Hamilton
Scandella-Risto
McCabe-Nelson
Bogo

Guhle in the minors

Looks good on paper, damn good actually...
but i wonder if Hamilton’s style is the right fit as a partner for Dahlin
I feel like a more stay-at-home guy might be a good fit (Borgen eventually?)
That would give Dahlin more freedom to skate with the puck & attack up ice

I might be nitpicking here
But it’s the same thought process as saying Sam or ROR don’t “fit” the style that Botts/Housley wanna play

I think it’s important in building this team to make sure we are bringing in the “right” guys
If u know what i mean

So Dougie For ROR ? Ek

I’m thinking dougie is a locker room problem now

- gerbe75pts

if dougie is a locker room problem, so is ROR

Agreed. I would do that trade straight up. We would have to backfill ROR with somebody that can win draws and play the shutdown role. But that d-line-up you noted above is actually very good.

But then we basically have all LH guys
Dahlin, Hanifin, Scandella, Guhle, Pilut, Beaulieu

Only RH defensemen we’d have are
Bogosian & Nelson
And Borgen eventually coming

Just don’t see how we can do that

- jdfitz77

Dahlin plays just as well on either side, so it will be interesting which side the Sabres play him on. The gift that keeps on giving.

Don't know much about Fox but I've seen him bandied about. Not living up to potential?

Hes the next Vesey/Hayes/etc. Staying for his final NCAA season so the fear of him "not signing" is starting to float around

If they can't get Svech or Zadina, go for an NHL player like Hamilton.

Or just keep him.

Trading for futures time is over

I know Dahlin has played the right too
But everything I’m reading from scouts & “experts” is that he’s mostly played the left side
And that he’d be much better off (at least starting) on his strong side while adjusting to the smaller ice surface

Thanks
Kinda sounds like what we already knew

No harm in letting teams outbid each other for him
See what the best offers are,
and decide from there

If no one blows Botts away,
then we are 3-deep at Center
And that would be a good thing
