Right. So it's not "they don't want to pay him", it's "he's an expendable, middle pairing dman with high perceived value."
- TheSabresTaco

It's not that ..

they're so stacked they can have two top pairing defenseman lines

It's just like Nashville when they moved Seth Jones

I believe they had Weber at that time

Didn't forget that. It's not lost upon me that it's commonplace for dmen to take several years to reach their potential, if they indeed reach it at all. But Seth Jones was already showing his ability and potential prior to leaving Nashville.

I don't think that Hanifin will ever be as good of a defenseman that Seth Jones is. But the scenario with Hanifin being expendable to bring in a top center is very similar.

- TheSabresTaco

But Hanifin is just breaking out also he had 10g and over 30 points playing on the 2nd and 3rd Paring this year

Like you said defenseman need time to develop and usually in the fourth year this is the time that they explode

I think if you look at the trade statistics, you'll notice historically that a vast majority of trades, especially significant ones, are not inter-division.
- TheSabresTaco

Sure, but I think that's starting to break apart. The rangers just traded with the Islanders for the first time ever. Plakanec went from MTL to To.

When you played teams 8 times a year, it meant something, but last year we played the Devils 3 times, and the leafs 5 times. It's not a huge difference

Edit, devils, not isles. Sry

Can’t compare Hoffman or Stone to a 35 year old Thomas Plekanec who is resigning with Montreal as a UFA regardless.

It happens though. Lehner was traded inter-division. I don't think divisions mean what they used to

Shannon - Mike Babcock and Auston Matthews had their meeting in Arizona about the direction of the team moving forward. I keep hearing the meeting didn't go very well from a Babcock perspective.

So we trade 3 starters from last year and only get 2 back?

I wouldn't be happy, but I wouldn't be pissed either

I know who they'd be getting

The right side of the blue line gets extremely weaker (which is why I suggested McCabe and ROR for Skinner and Hanifin yesterday)

You are also now short a top 6 RWer and need a top 6 LWer as well

You're getting talent for sure but you have no balance in your lineup

With the money you just took out could give you the chance at John Carlson

I’m not saying it wouldn’t happen but a trade like that I’m sure we have a plan to replace the right side imo

Also I thought 25 goal wingers are so easy to find? At least that what you were saying when we traded Kane away.... so now it’s not???

Dude he had Scottie Pippen and Dennis Rodman etc

LeBron doesn't even have close to that lol

- gerbe75pts

I’m no NBA fan, so I have hesitated to comment.
But, I’m an bumhole with an opinion on nearly everything...so,

Crazy to compare these two guys from literally different games due to rule changes.
They are both awesome, and fun to watch.
Lebrun is simply carrying this team and it is amazing what he has accomplished this year.
That said, to act as though Lebrun has played with 5th graders on his team for all 10 finals is beyond ridiculous...this year and some others sure...but he also had star studded teammates for several years as well.

If I were building a tea...I would try like hell to get picks 1 & 2 to take them both.

There is a lot of overvaluing of players for fans of a any team, but this is utter nonsense. If this is all ROR would fetch, there's not a chance in hell I'm moving him.
